IF the team could have fit the player at the trade deadline, and they have MORE space with each passing day, and the player has LESS cap hit with each passing day... do i need to keep going with that?

Granted, but said trade could not put X team over their "averaged club salary." The acquisition of Brad Richards may.

And this is why I didn't even want to get into it. There are so many things in the CBA that rely on interpretation, and not complete fact that is layed out for you.

I was just curious, as it does impact both the validity of the story, and the Leafs flexibility should they opt to trade for Brad Richards rights prior to July 1st.

All signs point to Richards and his camp wanting to test the market.. I feel trading for Richards' rights would be a waste. If he's going to sign here he's going to sign here after July 1.
