To be fair they have fucked up many many times in the past... well... typically its 29 teams that fuck up and 1 (detroit) that doesn't.

shiv pulls a kareem every once in awhile and gets really really excited about someone/something and says things that he can't really support. take it easy on him please.

would you be surprised if Conz made it to the NHl one day as a starter? i bet 30 sets of NHL scouts wouldn't. there is a level of concern attached to Conz due to his size. that is why he was not drafted. lol he's still 19. should we go through a list of how many nhl starters and back ups that went late/didn't get drafted in the past 20 years?

5'11 isnt that small for a goaltender.

If that were the case I guarantee Conz would have been drafted by now. If a player even has a chance at becoming an everyday NHL'er on a 3rd/4th line, they will be taken in the later rounds, nevermind a starting goaltender.

Johan Gustafsson - listed as 5'6", drafted 6th round by minny
Peter Mrazek - same listed height 5th round pick by det
Cody Rosen listed as 1 inch taller than Conz drafted by the Isles.

these were just in last years draft and I have done far from a proper search, there are probably more. to say its height and height alone is far off base. Also the scouting out there now is soo far superior than 20 years ago, yes players go missed but its far more rare. Conz has also been scouted on the highest junior platform and still passed over. I like the guy and if some day saw him in the nhl would be super stoked, but he is far from a lock and even farther from worth a 2nd rounder. Hell I doubt I'd get a 2nd rounder for Kent Simpson who was a real life 2nd round draft pick.

2 true starters-> Thomas & Halak ... both are 71" and change (basically 6").
Osgood, Turco are also just under 6". Most goalies are 6'2-6'4". Dubnyk & Lindback are 6'6"...LOL

Halak was a 9th rounder, Turco a 5th, Thomas a 9th, Osgood was 54th overall. Small goalies w/o top teir atheletism just don't make the NHL. Also worth considering->Conz is wearing illegal pads by NHL standards.


The summary here: no one is even considering a 2nd rounder as fair value for an un-owned goalie that is clearly making many desperations saves and playing well above his skill set. Not like he's stealing the tournament... just not getting embarrassed. I'd give u a 6th for him just cause he's a nice guy.

Which is exactly why I told you Conz is not worth a 2nd round pick. They go late in the draft or not at all.

Conz as nick said is wearing pads he isn't allowed to wear at the NHL/AHL level. Hasn't done enough at other levels to even be talked about as a 2nd, but Shiv here is trying to sell a world jr piece at a high, kudos to him, now is the time to do it. If the roles were reversed I'd doubt Shiv would be arguing that he'd give a 2nd for Conz, its simply salesmanship as it always is with Shiv.
