SuperMario wroteCOLONof course gwg has a correlation to the team. BUT:

your argument has far less value than the fact than the fact that players who score more goals put up more GWG. want another reason? every time kessel scores a goal, the odds of the Leafs winning the game go up. Why? There is a direct correlation between Kessel scoring and the Leafs winning. We can easily pull out stats that confirm that teams win most of their games when their best players score. and im sure majority of kessel's goals come in wins not losses.

back to the issue with ribeiro: As far as categories like FOW, SHTOI, SOG, STPTS, GWG, Goals, BS, Hits, PIMs are concerned, YOu can probably find a lot of forwards who either put up stats very similar to ribeiro or come extremely close to or even better than what he does. the ONLY categories ribeiro brings a surplus in is Assists and Points compared to those players. that is not worth 5m in salary. the proof? Ribeiro will NEVER be on a contender in this league. that is fact. he will always be on mid-tier playoff teams at best. that is why he is overrated. this is a fact you have yet to disagree with.
I've already adressed your first point...Moving on.

Ribiero gets more total points that Kessel, plays more time on the pp which subsequently improves his STPTS, and plays on a better team with better linemates, improving his +/-. Furthermore, Ribeiro scores more assists than Kessel goals, takes draws, kills some penalties, need I continue? Your argument is idiotic, and by no means "fact", there is nothing factual about it. What is a fact is that Ribeiro currently plays for a contender, and that many players like Ribeiro play for contenders. Phil Kessel is one such player.

Also you are wrong...Ribeiro provides above, above average FOW, PTS, STPTS, A, and +/-.

you havent addressed my first point lol but i guess once you take an argumentation course you'll realize that :P. and your 2nd point. lets talk before the playoffs start. i guarantee ribeiro will not be on a contender. kessel >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ribeiro (and not because of age/potential. even for just this season). and no players like ribeiro do not play for contenders. not at 5m they dont.

but anyways when this all started my point was simply that mashley got a good return for ribeiro. lets just agree to disagree on that ;).

Sure I have, I countered with the point that it is 1) minimal to the overall argument, 2) minimally different betweent the two players, and 3) varies. You then stated something we both already know, that there is a strong corrleation between goal scorers and gwg, unfortunately Kessel and Ribeiro aren't averages, they are two dinstinct individuals.

Your second point really doesn't even warrant a rebuttal.

ribeiro will never find himself on a contender in the playoffs. the top 4 contenders this year do not have a player like ribeiro on their team. nor will tbl who is right there with the top 4 contenders when the playoffs start. the argument ends there. and i think you actually agree with me on that statement but are continuing to argue like you always do because to you arguing for the sake of arguing is usually the goal more than anything else ;).

While it is true that I typically take a stance I have no vested interest in, for no other reason than to prove I can, this is not one of those instances. Ribeiro can be a viable component of any team, and if I had the space I would seriously consider adding him.

but thats just it right kareem. no contender can AFFORD to keep ribeiro. i never argued that ribeiro is not a good player. i simply said he is too expensive for what he brings. contenders have too many good players to fit under the cap and ribeiro at 5m is too much.

i guarantee ribeiro will not be on nicks team when the playoffs roll around. anyone who goes out and gets ribeiro is almost undeniably going to trade them in the future because his stats do not warrant his cap.

Hmmm...

Ribeiro is... yep still a Tampa Bay Lightning who were top 4 in the league and I believe a cup contender... in 66gp he has 13goals (3 of GWG variety), 43assists for 56 points... sadly is -2 with only 22PIMS. His 120 SOG is lowish for an offensive player...20 blocked shots helps with 1 a week but nothing notable, a nice strong 474 FOW, reasonable 75 hits, 60min SHTOI, and a solid 19stpts. Combines to be a player who I'm more then comfortable to have @ 5M.

just because ribeiro is still on your team doesnt mean he should be haha. but congratulations on being a cup contender.
