I do like ProBoards. It seems like a simple interface and has enough customization for our needs. Plus, they'll handle the hosting and I'm sure they do all the software updates behind the scenes. That's a good option to have in our back pocket.
I've got the rest of the season to figure out how to move/convert our current forum over to another domain. As I said, I want to do a test run of a new PHPbb forum hosted on my webspace. I want to make sure all of that would work before I secure another domain name to host this forum.
WTF happened to forums?

Re: WTF happened to forums?
I did some initial work towards setting up a phpBB forum on my webspace over the holiday break. I just need to figure out how to get my version of PHP up to snuff and I'll set up a test forum for you guys to try out. Ultimately taking a backup of this database and continuing at a different domain where I can manage the forum software is my preferred goal.
If I can't obtain this forum database by the end of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, we will move to a ProBoards forum ahead of the 2023 draft.
For the record, we actually are using the most up-to-date version of the PHP forum but I think what's missing is some additional patches and corrections (such the as "COLON" issue which would be fixed with a language plug-in).
This was not something I didn't want to have to tinker with this season and on top of some bugs I found in the weekly sheets, I've been a bit frustrated with managing things this season. Not to the point of wanting to quit or give up, it's just been a grind.
Please be patient with getting this forum issue ironed out and I'll do what I can to have less headaches next season.

Re: WTF happened to forums?
To hedge my bet, I did secure "bbkl.proboards.com" as our fallback forum option. I want to see what I can do in terms of customizing that and how easy that is to manage.
