The value is getting rid of the Simmonds contract and not having to dump better players for garbage returns. If you want to keep gutting the Leafs and leave him with less, then that's on you guys. Simmonds has 1 maybe 2 years left in him before his body gives out on him. As Matt said yesterday you're not fooling anyone into giving you players by presenting that these players don't contribute stats. Fact of the matter is there are other teams interested in them and willing to pay more than you are. If you think Simmonds is worth very little thats fine but you won't be acquiring him. I'm the one typing on here until Tyler is able to get onto the forums but he's the one ultimately making decisions I'm just giving him feedback.
