Kezia wroteCOLONBozak was never drafted so yes I'd assume that he did grow 4 inches and put on 30 lbs. Did you know that Bozak had 1 better year than Yip in the BCHL? How about that Yip was better than Bozak in the NCAA? They both took the long road to the NHL. One because he had no choice, the other because he was drafted and chose to get an education. Yip played 6 games in the minors before jumping to the NHL. Bozak played 32.
Again you are using draft positon to determine a players worth and you can't understand the correlation between worth and draft positon. I was hoping that you would with the Zetterberg comparison, such as it is, but apparently not.
Bozak NCAA Career:
Year 1: 18G 16A = 34 points in 41 games
Year 2: 8G 15A = 23 points in 19 games
Yip NCAA Career:
Year 1: 9G, 22A = 31 points in 39 games
Year 2: 5G, 6A = 11 points in 18 games
Year 3: 11G, 12A = 23 points in 37 games
Year 4: 20G, 23 A = 43 points in 45 games
And this is ignoring the fact that Bozak played on an inferior team and line, and has significant edges in skill that put him over the top. Moreover, your point regarding AHL time is invalid, Yip spent 4 and a half seasons developing after being drafted, AHL + NCAA. Bozak developed 2 seasons in the NCAA and a half season in the minors, so again the edge goes to Bozak. Furthermore, Bozak is 11 months younger, or a full development year behind Yip, and despite this still managed make a bigger impact in the NHL, in a larger sample size, on a higher line, and against better opposition no less.
As for your second point, I never once claimed that higher draft position guarantees greater sucess, that was a sad attempt by you to regain any semblance of an argument to save face, and achieve the allusion of a valid argument, which is obviously not the case. So stop bringing up Henrik Zetterberg, he is a proven superstar, Brandon Yip has shown decent production in a limited sample size, after the injury to David Jones. Thanks for coming out Lee...

So now you are using everything I told you on MSN as evidence to somehow prove me wrong?
Yip was playing 3rd line minutes in a much lesser role against the teams grinding lines and still managed to put up .12 less PPG than Bozak who played first line minutes with far better players. Since you are threatening to post our MSN convo, here goes:

2. And I can name hundreds of NHL players who produced in a limited sample size, and went on to do nothing for the remainder of their careers.
Hopefully Bozak isn't one of those players.
3. When a player needs 6 seasons in the AHL, chances are they aren't that good...
You know fuck all about Brandon Yip. He spent 4 years in the NCAA.
4. He is about 1/2 years away, certainly not the 5/6 Yip took.
To get an education?
5. Bozak is a highly regarded 23 year old center who produced in a top line role against the oppositions best defenders. Jason Blake is a 36 year old forward who went undrafted as well, but without the track record, or natural skills of Bozak at the NCAA level.
Bozak can only hope that he is as productive in the NHL as Jason Blake has been. Blake was 100X the player either Yip or Bozak were in the NCAA
1. Both would have went undrafted, and Yip was not better than Bozak in the NCAA, nvm "alot better"...
2. Hopefully not. (fail to see your point...)
3. Your ability to read into humour is impressive.
4. I'm sure education played a role, development did as well. Yip was not ready for the show and would have spent time in the AHL if he opted out of college early.

1 ) Stats say otherwise. If we are excluding Yip's senior year, we can exclude Bozak's last year in the BCHL and say that Yip was better than him in the BCHL as well. Let's exclude Bozak's first year in the NCAA and Yip's second year in the NCAA and then Yip was better. You can't pick and choose stats because they do or don't help your argument.
2) Not really sure I have one.

4) Yip was not ready for the show? Do you know this through extensive research or just pulling opinion from your ass? Maybe he wanted an education because he was an 8th round pick and wasn't guaranteed a spot in the NHL? Instead he got an education, played better than Bozak and made it to the NHL. Those are facts, not opinions or selective looking.

1. What...Did you just say you can't pick and choose stats, and proceed to..pick and choose stats? LMFAO...I compared their rookie and sophomore seasons in the NCAA at the same age, since that is the only fair way to compare the two, and in both seasons Bozak outperformed Brandon Yip. Secondly, Bozak was a much better player in the BCHL once he hit his growth spurt in 05-06 onwards. Further proving your point invalid.
2. Whats new?
3. Again..humour, it's funny you still don't see it.
4. It is well known that Yip spent the full 4 seasons in the NCAA because he needed additional development, such is the case for 8th round picks...If you were right, and he was a lock to make the NHL after 2 seasons of NCAA hockey, than he would have made the roster immediately out of camp, and not been a recall after the Jones injury.
5. (Missed this above) Jason Blake played in a different era of NCAA hockey, you cannot compare his stats to Bozak and Yip, but looking back on his NHL career it is clear that there are holes in his game, and outside of speed he is lacking in talent. The same cannot be said about Bozak, hence why he was so hyped and coveted as a FA, and Blake was not.

Brandon Yip,
You graduated from BU with a degree in criminal justice. After your career is over do you want to do something in that field?
Hopefully my career is long enough where I can golf the rest of my days, but if it doesn't work out, it was pretty interesting taking it in college. It's something I'd look into, but now I'm just focusing on hockey.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_d ... nhl-218412
Doesn't sound like a guy who stayed in the NCAA to finish of his degree, hockey appears to be first and foremost, and had he been ready to make the jump in the eyes of the Avs scouts I'm confident he would have left the NCAA. Of course this is mostly speculation.

I brought up his 4 years in the NCAA after you said that he spent 6 in the AHL.
I never said he was comparable. I said that they were in a similar situation. English is hard.
I never said he wasn't at the camp. Maybe i worded it wrong, but I was saying he didn't make the team from out of camp. It's quite apparently that my spelling is shitty.
He was in the NCAA and he scored 40 in the NHL.
2 NHLers? Sure, If neither having a full season and barely a full season between them counts as NHLers. I made it quite apparent to you multiple times that I have no interest in Werek but you still try to push him on me.
