sgupca wroteCOLONgood signing,
however sadly enough he becomes our 2nd line LW'er
Kadri + Grabo are no doubt betterfacey wroteCOLON Not sure how you figure that. we have 4 wingers who are better then him + kadri/grabo
mr. bruin wroteCOLONGood signing imo. He will bounce between 3rd and 2nd i feel. If he proves himself he may deserve that 2nd lie spot. Really a low risk high reward signing.
If he was great we wouldn't have signed him for 1.1, with an RFA option next season. Kid has some skill and energy, it could be a high upside signing, if not we just walk away in arbitration like the Thrashers did this season.facey wroteCOLONI was kinda sad to see that he actually got lots of first line TOI and #1 PP last year... not exactly exciting #'s for that sorta opportunity... however he had excellent Short handed #'s & TOI, which is nice to see, and some highlight type goals.
it sounds like both parties wanted to walk away.Starpainter wroteCOLONSpeaking of MacArthur's arbitration, his agent's an idiot - he could have made his client an extra 500k had he only asked for 1 year at 1.6mil. Atlanta wouldn't have been able to walk away.
Perhaps... If Atlanta bought out the auto-1.6 he still would have have pocketed a quick 533k before coming to Toronto.facey wroteCOLON it sounds like both parties wanted to walk away.
thus still claming a salary of 1.6mil!Starpainter wroteCOLON

I think they figured they could get more on the open market, or MacArthur didn't want to stay in Atlanta.Starpainter wroteCOLONSpeaking of MacArthur's arbitration, his agent's an idiot - he could have made his client an extra 500k had he only asked for 1 year at 1.6mil. Why waste Versteeg on the third line, when we (arguably) have no one better that is not named Phil Kessel.facey wroteCOLONJust thinking out loud here... but it turns out he calls Llyodminster home in the summer, where he trains and practices with the likes of Colby Armstrong and Chris VerBeauty.
3rd line of MacArthur-Versteeg-Armstrong ???
Yep, which is why they should have asked for 1.6 instead of 2.4. At 1.6 the contract is auto-accepted by the league, the team has no choice. That's what happened with Kennedy.inferno31 wroteCOLONMacarthur got 2.4 in arbitration I heard because Atlanta was going to walk away no matter what once they got Ladd. They came into the arbitration meeting and literately just said give us an award based off what the player wants ASAP, just so they could walk away from it right away.
Its possible he didn't know of Atlanta's plans for him. So he started at 2.4 and expected to end up sub 2.0. In that situation how do you play that risk, if you don't know what they are going to do and only ask 1.6 he'd be calling for his agent's head the same way.Starpainter wroteCOLON Yep, which is why they should have asked for 1.6 instead of 2.4.
