CasperX22 wroteCOLONI don't get what's not to understand here. In no way should a team that misses be allowed to move up in the draft especially with the ridiculously low gp number required to hit. I remember a few years ago when I think it was Cliff that was the beneficiary of being moved back for missing gp and then won a lottery spot. Stuff like that shouldn't happen where you are rewarded for not doing the bare minimum of what the league requires. It still sucks for Lee, but he should've known what he was getting into.

I mean this is like sesame street. One of these things is not like the others. You have nobody to be mad at but yourself for putting yourself in that position.

It involves my pick so it is about me, you dolt.

I've long been a critic of the GP rule because of how complicated it is to enforce. It's partly why I didn't have all the answers for you when you and I talked in the spring about returning. The other difficult part about this rule is we seem to have different situations every time. The offending team may or may not own their actual pick. And in a case like this, a new GM has to inherit the wrongs of the previous GM.

I knew your spot in the draft would move back because the amount of games Kyle missed by. After it was explained to me, the idea of not moving up in the draft makes sense since you still owned the pick. At best you'd end up 4th but the results of the lottery being what they were, you had to move back a spot because of a long-shot winning the #1 pick.

That move back had nothing to do with this rule. The thing about that is, a lot of teams had to drop back a spot because of this happening. Between enforcing this GP rule and the unusual situation with the #1 pick, a lot of teams were affected...this wasn't just about you. Koomz won the lottery and everyone in the top 11 had their position altered by at least one spot because of that happening.

The thing about this situation with Boston, I know Kyle wasn't tanking...he just stopped trying. He lost interest in the league and the value of his team nose-dived and ultimately stepped down after the regular season because he lost interest in running a team.

The GP rule is in place so teams can't dress bad lineups to lose and improve their draft position. This situation is complicated because the GM wasn't tanking but that same GM didn't want stay on with the league to deal with the fine and to go through process of rebuilding the roster. That Bruins roster has some positives but for the most part, it's in rough shape.

When the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail. Treating this issue the same as you would for someone who owned the team all year makes no sense.

The penalty would've been the same for you, Kyle or whoever else would've taken the team over.

We have a few measures to keep the league competitive...the salary cap/floor and GP limits. If we didn't have the rules in place, bottom feeder teams would roll out $20 million team and dress 6 NHLers to race for the bottom. And then the lottery is in place so teams can't just have the first pick for being the best at being the worst.

You're not being penalized for anything other than this. It's a franchise penalty. Your pick wouldn't be this low in the standings if not for the performance of the GM that you replaced. You took over the team "as it lies".

If I did a better job of explaining this GP situation to you, would you have refused coming back? Keep in mind, I wasn't trying to manipulate you or mislead you. I was actually surprised you wanted to take over this particular team but I know you like to rebuild.

Considering the discussion was about my pick being punished multiple times, it was about my pick.

As far as having a shit personality, who knew that repeatedly attacking someone over the years would lead that person to have less than favourable encounters. I have 0 problems with most people in the league. I just give less of a shit about the opinions of people who I wouldn't ask for advice from, like you.
