Because there is a history of these plays NOT being suspended. So now you’re going to go and make an example out of matthews? Drouin did something just as bad if not worse to seguin this year and got a 5k fine. Matthews doesn’t even have a history of this kind of thing. This ruling completely came out of left field when you look at it against other similar incidents. It’s a joke.

You can’t, with a straight face, say this is a fair ruling based on everything we have seen so far this year. But yes it’s just because we are “leafs fan boys”. Mathews also has zero history of this kind of incident but yah we will just all of a sudden decide to make an example out of him. That play was the straw that broke the camels back!

But I can say it. It's a deserved suspension. Anyone else getting away with that shit is bull and should also be suspended. If the league doesn't want to protect the players, then let's bring back k enforcers to put players in their place when they try to injure guys.

I mean, finding single examples of things is easy. Drouins deserved a suspension but Maybe they decided drouins was more a pushing motion and matthews at speed through the air was more dangerous.

Anyway, you can find single occurrences of everything all the time. It happens to every team, but never hear so much bitching and moaning as from Toronto fans, but it's probably because they have like 20% of the league's fans, and have some intense fans that get the others all whipped up into a frenzy.

You’d think cross checking someone in the back of the head/neck while using downward force would be a bit more dangerous then a forceful crosscheck from the side. I’m talking about the drouin play ofc.

It was definitely a dirty play it’s just awfully fucking funny how the league decides to take a stand against one of its star players after this single incident when he has no history of this type of thing. There’s no precedent for this type of suspension either which is another reason why the ruling is so egregious.


Everyone wants to act like it’s just Toronto fans “whining like usual”. Please. If any of the teams y’all were fans of had a player of matthews caliber who got suspended for such a dumb play y’all would be just as cheesed.

Guess we will see if cross checks to the head are automatic 2 game suspensions going forward. Based on the history of the league and how rulings are handed out I highly doubt it. The league doesn’t deserve the benefit of the doubt either at this point.
