NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Arizona and Buffalo seem to be going with the "have no goalies" approach to tanking
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Can't win games if you don't have a goalie to stop the puck. 0-82 seasons incoming!
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Buffalo is going to fail at getting Wright, just like they did with Mcdavid. Should be an epic tank battle this year and next

Also a very good year.Matthew wroteCOLON2023 is the year I'm excited for

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Part of me wonders if the Sabres think they can snag a goalie in any Jack Eichel trade. Seems like the best goalie options will be through the trade market. Several teams are carrying extra guys...Dallas signing Holtby yesterday was still a strange move.
Arizona added Hutton...would've been a suitable backup if they hung onto Kuemper. That roster is a mangled mess...tough team to start off with for Tourigny.

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
If Buffalo can convince Eichel to stay, then draft Wright, and have Dahlin and Power on defence, that could actually be the framework for a pretty great team. 4 young supercore guys. Doubt eichel has the patience at this point to wait that long though (and I don't blame him).

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Eichel is long gone
Issue is he still hasn't had the surgery that he wants. I suspect he'll miss the next season either on IR with buffalo or on IR with another team postop.
Still think the Rangers are the final destination.
Obviously the Kings/Ducks/Wild could be at play, though less likely the kings with the Danault signing

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Dmen are getting paid this off season. Wow.
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
That Seth Jones deal really fucked up comparables for young D
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Jesus. I'm so confused. RFA Werenski gets paid more than UFA Jones and Hamilton and RFA Makar and Heiskanen, and on a shorter deal.
He must have really had CBJs bent over knowing they couldn't lose another good dman.

Think it mostly has to do with how many UFA years are "bought"Matthew wroteCOLONJesus. I'm so confused. RFA Werenski gets paid more than UFA Jones and Hamilton and RFA Makar and Heiskanen, and on a shorter deal.

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Yeah read that after that most of those years are UFA. Still didn't think he would eclipse both Jones and Hamilton.

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
in the end cap hits not a good representation of how much actual take-home he gets. altho none of that matters in fantasy bookkeeping.
in reality marner only takes home about 4.5 mil on avg after tax excluding endorsement
and
and also heiskanen h2h sux so overpaid

Yzerman gets a new toy from the Lightning...the Wings acquired Mitchell Stephens from Tampa. They've pretty good luck with Erne after he's gotten some regular playing time in Detroit.
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
I am 100% positive Marner takes home far greater than 4.5 mil on his contract. People think these athletes don't have great accountants that minimize their tax losses. One of the agents said the most his clients lose is 20%. The whole tax thing is grestly exaggerated.kimmer wroteCOLONin the end cap hits not a good representation of how much actual take-home he gets. altho none of that matters in fantasy bookkeeping.
