I like Zach Hyman but if the apparent 8 year x 5M contract from Edmonton is true then yowza. That's certainly something to give a 29 year old of his type. I guess Edmonton feels they just need consistency in their middle 6 for McD and drai.

Understand 5M, but feel more than 5 years is a bit much at that price.

at that price they plan to play him with McDavid, at least i'd hope.

I would think Carolina will look at him as a 1B option...assuming they sign him. No idea who they're pairing with him since they have no NHL goalies under contract at this moment.

If he stayed in Detroit, I thought he and Greiss would split the starts. I think he's a good hand if you have a starter that you don't want to overwork during the regular season. I would imagine he's a 30-35 start guy.

I'm sure he'll benefit from a better blue line in front of him. He did what he could in Detroit. Carolina allowed 4 fewer shots per game than Detroit and I'd imagine a lot of those shots aren't high danger compared to what he saw in Detroit. His shots against/60 was approaching 35...he usually faced more shots than Greiss last year. The Wings only scored 2.25 goals per game when he was in net...they averaged less than 2 goals for Greiss.
