The only sticky area, really, is how to do the draft lottery. It would be simpler if it was just re-jigged for this year so that only those who are obviously out of it participate in the draw. The odds would have to be re-done, and maybe instead of 3 draws you do 2 or even just 1 (I believe that was mentioned by a writer as being considered).

They cannot include everyone in the draft. That would be an absolute shit show.

I don't think the entire league is going to be in the lottery. From what I've seen or heard, they'll determine the 15 teams based on point percentage and it'll only be a draw for #1, not for #2 or #3.

I think we'll hear something early this week from the NHL and we'll figure out what we need to do to do our draft in a timely manner.

Trust me we will, Lee. The other potential issue we have is there's still no replacement for Tony. Luckily, the Islanders don't have a pick until the 2nd round.

We need to wait for the NHL to green light their idea and we'll go ahead with ours.

You can post that, Dave. We need a new GM for the Islanders whether there's a draft or not.

Nobody really replaced Mike at the top. I'm the forum admin but I don't consider myself in charge. I'd like to think this is a group effort...contribute however you can, as much or as little as you want.

Leipsic and Cave gone....

Dubinsky probably never going to play again.

Ladd and Eriksson probably done...

Letestu.. who the fuck knows...

On the cusp of retirement... Hainsey and Lundqvist.

This off-season might really hurt.

Integrity is how you act when no one is around. Leaked or not, you have to be careful with what you do or say online.

I also don't like people acting offended on behalf of people who were the actual target of offensive comments. The fact it's leaked and we're hard up for sports news, this becomes something for the hockey media to chew on and inject their sensibility rather than let the people involved take action. We make too much news out of what people say. The news cycle can be dominated by a few sentences or reckless speculation.

Calling for the end of his NHL career? That's not for me or any fan to decide. Leave it up to the teams decide. This is obviously a character issue and teams need to decide if he's a player worth having and can they trust his character and can teammates trust him.

Outside of that, I don't care. People need to be accountable for their behavior online.

Welcome to the wonderful world of rebuilding in BBKL.

Fingers crossed that you have some prospects break through next year. Otherwise, you have to get creative and find NHL bodies to fill your lineup while you wait on your top prospects.

Honestly, you're better off paying a little extra to find some guys with stable playing situations with a team or who is on a long term deal. You're not going to like to hear this but you'll have to cough up some picks and prospects along the way to make that happen. Not every prospect we carry on our rosters are going to make the NHL.
