We were truely fucked if Garrett Sparks is /was the goalie of the future.

At one point he might of been the goalie of the future, but after seeing his style in his first go around it was clear he didn't have the makings of an NHL starter. A quality backup is still very possible.

I'm wondering about the next wave of UFAs. Are teams just waiting for the arbitration players to get resolved and for the bigger named RFAs to sign? For a team like the Sharks with all their RFAs signed...are they just waiting for Thornton to decide if he wants to play? Are they still looking at bringing back Marleau?

There's not a lot of big names left...Gardiner, Brassard, Boyle, Ben Hutton, Girardi, Vanek, Methot, Sheahan. Gardiner is probably the last impact free agent and the rest are depth or middle of the lineup guys.
