There is probably some truth to that. Weal couldn't get on the ice over Phil Varone or Dale Weise. Kind of paints the picture of how far he had fallen out of favor in Philly.

Yeah and Rutta is a better player. What's the issue? That said, we are talking about 2 marginal players with a marginal difference in pick value being swapped.

the point is, Rutta sucks, the fact they had to add on Koekkoek to get him gives a measure of Koe’s value

It's crazy how they can drop 11 in a row and still be tied for WC2 in the West. Hell, the Avs have one win in their last 10 games and they still have the WC1 spot.

To me, there's no team that's definitely out of hunt in the West but it doesn't look like any of the bottom teams are capable of getting hot and jumping over all the teams in front of them. The West has a handful of contending teams and then a pile of mushy mediocrity underneath.
