Dunno about number retired. He only scored more than 70 points once.

Nash is going to be one of those players who creates a lot of buzz around the HHOF. He was a great player, one could argue a franchise player, but did he do enough to warrant a entry into the HHOF?
I for one am undecided on Nash, and I'm usually pretty opinioned. It's a tough call.

I don't see how it is a tough call, I never even thought about 'Hall of famer' for Nash, and he wasn't a franchise player either

I agree. Best player on a bad franchise, but not a franchise player. What will give him a chance is his WC and Olympic stats and results. But career really waned with injuries towards the end.

Not the Hall of Fame - maybe his home town's hall of fame, or a plaque hung at city hall. That's about it.

For his time in the NHL (2002-03 through last season)…
437 goals is 4th most (behind Ovechkin, Iginla and Marleau)
805 points in 19th most
111 PP goals is 11th most
232 PP points is t-44th most
3624 SOG is 2nd most (behind Ovechkin...he had a career shooting % of 12.0% compared to Ovechkin's 12.4%)
73 GW goals is 6th most (behind Ovechkin, Marleau, Daniel Sedin, Iginla and Jeff Carter)
Very underrated part of his game was his time on the PK
22 SH goals is t-5th most (behind Hossa, Mike Richards, St. Louis and Marchand, tied with Vermette)
31 SH points is t-7th most (tied with Matt Cullen, Plekanec and Bergeron)

I wouldn't call him a Hall of Famer but he was a good player in his era.
437 goals is t-67th all-time with Pavel Bure but he (Nash) played 358 more games.
805 points is t-160th all-time with Milan Hejduk.
111 PP goals is t-132nd all-time with Petr Sykora.

Absolutely nowhere close to a Hall of Famer.

"DeSmith secured a three-year contract extension with the Penguins on Friday worth $1.25 million annually.
Analysis: DeSmith was scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, but now has tied himself to the team through the 2021-22 campaign."
I like this a lot. Especially if Murray can't get over his issues and continues to miss significant time every season.

It's a great contract, but definitely a backup contract.
Murray has won 8 in a row and put up a .968 with 2 shutouts since returning from injury. He seems to be good again

I agree murray is still easily the starter, but that's just 8 games. Over the 60 previous games he was pretty atrocious.
60gp
.901 sv percentage and 3.18 gaa
While over the same period desmith was:
34gp
924 sv percentage and 2.36 gaa
This just opens opportunity for desmith to either be a starter somewhere else potentially, or if Murray puts up another bad season to take a good share of games in pittsburgh.
Maybe this contract makes him desirable for seattle.

A lot of interesting trades. Some of those guys still have potential.
