Yeah, lost the gamble there - the stinker by Darling on Sat sealed his fate along Mac continually to win - should've held on to him for just a few more days to see how it played out.

Darling won't ever again be a good NHL starting goalie. Capable backup? Maybe. But he is not starting material, let alone a Vezina candidate.

Ya gonna say Darling's contract will limit him from going elsewhere; Carolina will need to buy him out if he's gonna go elsewhere or eat half his contract in a trade.

People thought dubnyk was done as an nhl starter and a barely capable backup too. However, both dubnyk and darling had very good underlying numbers for years, so you never know with darling.

Dubnyk yes. Darling no. For about a 5 year stretch there it was Price, Dubnyk, and Mason 1-2-3 in adjusted sv percentage at even strength.
