Can we stop pretending that Jonas Gustavsson is an NHL goalie?

First start since January, team allows 40+ shot against him, and hes to blame on maybe 2 of the 6? Yeah he should be the scape goat this game.

He's been mediocre at best since he entered the NHL.

I wouldn't blame him for that loss. Team was flat and Boston has been horrible and finally showed some emotion last game. They were due to have a big game.

LOL at blaming Jonas... Come on shep, you know better :-P

He didn't save the game, lost ye goalie battle vs Thomas, but the leaf skaters lost vs the bruins skaters as well, just not our night, it's aight- bounce versus MTL!!!

I'm not blaming Gustavsson for tonight's loss. But he's still a bad goalie.

They were saying that he's allowed something like 17 goals in his last 3 starts and he's been mediocre to terrible the entirety of his career.

Irrelevant statistic when his last start was in January. His play this game was average, he made some good saves but he wasn't responsible for the majority of those goals. He also faced way more shots than in any other Leaf game to date. I'm confident with that same sort of play Reimer would of lost as well. Gus is an nhl caliber goalie, he may simply not fit into our system for one reason or another, maybe because we seem so weak at clearing rebounds and traffic. To say his whole career has been poor, well he hasn't had much of a chance to prove himself with all the heart surgeries, and the team hasn't exactly played very well in front of him.

Goalie A: GAA 2.66, Sv % 0.912
Goalie B: GAA 2.87 Sv% 0.913

Goalie A is Gus last November.. he went 2-4-2
Goalie B is Reims in March he went 9-4-1.

The team simply hasn't played very well in front of Gus. He is somewhat responsible for that, but his numbers indicate he has the talent.

He played poorly December on, but so did our entire team..

Neither are very good. They're both mediocre goaltenders. Average. But they're both young, especially for goalies. Hopefully one will rise to the upper echelon.

Not sure if you are also reffering to Reimer, but he is far from mediocre...A plus goalie his entire pro career, even after a poor start (by his standards) his numbers are very respectable.

Yeah, was referring to Reimer. I really hope I'm wrong.

To this point you are wrong...It isn't even up for debate, Reimer has been an above average goaltender since joining the Leafs, that is a fact.

I hope you are right, though I resent the idea that such a topic isn't up for debate.

He's been good for us and that's the job description of an NHL goaltender.

Sorry Mike, but your opinion sucks. Reimer is Jesus Christ reincarnate. I predicted last night's comeback and tonight's beatdown, so as such, my opinion is inviolable.

Why do you think I mentioned it?! My final moments of existence? Spending it on the couch, in sweatpants, under a comforter, watching Mythbusters, while keeping a tab open for porn.
