GM GM is a moron who lucked into a really good team. If he keeps this up, he`ll be turfed in a couple of years.

I agree with this. Good return for mtl. Not the end of the world for VGK but gotta believe these resources could have been better used on getting karlsson

All of these resources could have landed Karlsson.

Bold prediction of the year. Leafs use nylander as main piece to land karlsson!

Could you imagine?!

The Toronto Maple Leafs will never acquire Erik Karlsson from the Ottawa Senators.

Now that Pacioretty signed an extension...really like that deal for the Knights. I'd rather have him for the next 5 years than James Neal...even at a higher cap hit. I like their retooling of the 2nd line...adding Stastny and Pacioretty and sliding Eakin into a 3rd line role he's better suited. I think they'll survive the Schmidt suspension. Good on them to be able to flip Tatar and salvage something in that deal.

I don't know if they'll be quite as good as last year but that's still a playoff team in the West. Until Calgary and Edmonton get their crap together...I see Vegas and the 3 California teams running that Pacific Division for the here and now.

It begs the question of how much more the ask on Karlsson was. Vegas could probably use the help on the back end more, and this package would be a conversation starter I think for Ottawa. Not the ideal for us but it would get their foot in the door.

This package wouldn't be close for Erik karlson.

It shouldn't be, but to expect significantly more for a likely rental is optimistic.

TSN has a good read on the Pac deal
They essentially landed him for free, from all the side deals they made before the expansion.

That's the same logic people use to justify buying an Xbox with their tax return as it's "free" money.
