McDavid is great but that new salary will make you think twice if he's worth it. Doesn't have the well rounded game...yet. You look at Mike's team...I'd rather have Bergeron + Burns at a similar salary over one McDavid. Mike will have an interesting decision to make.

Crazy to see how fast young superstars are getting to max value. Adds another wrinkle to the fold which is always nice and interesting.

He'll be top 5 in points perennially...not saying he won't deliver there. You want to see more production in other categories. What does he give you in this format that's worth sinking the extra cap into that you could get from two or three players at that total salary.

2 or 3 players take up an extra roster spot or two. Better to take the most productive player and then find guys on rookie contracts for the other 2 spots.
