NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
According to Igor Eronko, CSKA is in talks with Dmitry Orlov
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Interesting with the trend of Russians coming over right now, but WSH can't afford to pay him a lot and KHL can probably offer double or more of what he would get in the NHL.Loki wroteCOLONAccording to Igor Eronko, CSKA is in talks with Dmitry Orlov

Likely using as leverage for a bigger deal.
Or the caps are leaking this to scare Vegas.
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Yeah I doubt he actually goes to the KHL, probably just trying to get a better RFA deal from the Caps
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
He deserves 4.25 maximum but probably wants 5.5
Incoming long ass 4.2 x 6 or 7 yr deal callin it

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
With the new team coming in, will we see more guys sticking around or we going to see the annual flood of veterans heading overseas. The Knights already added one of the big Euro free agents. With an extra team, you'd think there would be some NHL jobs available to the UFAs this summer.
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
I've budgeted 4m for Orlov
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
He'll get 4-5M as a comparable i doubt he gets more than Morgan Rielly
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
The NHL is willing to leave the salary cap flat next season, which would lower players' escrow payments. They meet with NHLPA next week.
Daly said cap for next season will be flat or slightly up without cap inflator. With cap inflator, $77 million plus.

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
go inflator go!
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
It's $73M now, could stay at that or go up to $77M. There's talk that the PA won't use their escalator since the expansion team came in and added jobs and things. Not really sure why that's a factor. It's all about escrow and how much the players lose overall.Matthew wroteCOLONWhat is it now?
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
If they use it they increase escrow. By not using it they already get another 73m or so added to the league wide total without increasing escrow for the Vegas cap. Equivalent or maybe better than a 2m increase to all teams since it comes with more jobs. So it makes sense to not use it.Loki wroteCOLONIt's $73M now, could stay at that or go up to $77M. The National Hockey League will not participate in the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea. That was the emphatic statement made by NHL commissioner Gary Bettman during his annual state of the league address and media availability before Game One of the Stanley Cup Final.
The IIHF and the Players Association had not yet closed the door. But on Monday, Bettman slammed it shut.
“It is not and has not been,” Bettman said regarding what the idea that NHL letting its players go was an “open issue.”
“I hope that was definitive enough,” he added.

I know the time zone issue won't bother you but I'm not heartbroken over not being able to see these games.
I can remember trying to the Nagano games when I was in high school...having get up at 2 or 3 in the morning. Sure, it's a showcase for the NHL but who can actually watch these games?
I'll watch the Olympic hockey regardless who is playing but I won't go out of my way to stay up all night or get up early to watch them either.
