I'd love to claw Manson away from the ducks....Bruyns wroteCOLONNot a big fan of the contract, but he had leverage with his age and going back to KHL and then being UFA. RHD is also a scarcity and if he was left he probably doesn't get that deal. I can live with it since there aren't many better options, but they really need another RHD to play ahead of him so he isn't facing top competition. Manson would be perfect since he is the defensive type player we could use and could be available with ANA having too many D to protect and would still let Zaitsev get PP time.

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Nick selected him in last years waiver draft.
Was he included in roster submission?

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Looks like he selected him but didnt add to roster submission
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Ahh cool cool, I would have taken a swing at him if I realised he didn't need a contract to be picked
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
I believe that makes him a free agent?Lee wroteCOLONLooks like he selected him but didnt add to roster submission
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
i guess the player just wasn't created in fantrax only

WAIVER DRAFT
Eligibility
Automatically eligible for the Waiver 2017 draft are ALL bbkl-free players who were:
- born before January 1st 1998, if they played a season in N.A. when 18,19 or 20yrs old
- born before January 1st 1997, if they never played in N.A. when 18,19 or 20yrs old
Additionally, bbkl-free players already signed to a NHL contract are eligible as well, even if born later than that.
Notes
- Be sure to have all your players listed on your roster (both on Fantrax and your googledoc).
Those missing and not eligible anymore for future BBKL Entry Drafts will be considered FA and eligible for the Waiver draft as a result.
- After the Waiver draft, the unowned NHL-signed players will become available as free agents; however, after rosters submission, those still eligible for the 2018 Entry draft will join the pool of players reserved for it.
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
This is the only reason that I am not 100% hateful of the contract.thom54 wroteCOLONthere are almost 0 top 4 RHD on the market this year as UFA.
Top 4 RHD are the rarest commodity right now in the NHL. Leafs have one in Zaitsev and zero in the Marlies with a future on this team. Going from needing one to needing two would be real bad.
The dollars aren't the end of the world. 5x5 would have been much preferred, but seven years is still scary, regardless of there being ways to get out of the deal. That's bad business to just be like "after five years we will just waive him and he can go to Russia. It's why Toronto, while soon to be a destination people want to come to, they also hesitate because of what has happened with Robidas island.
