ah true, he's at the bottom of their list; didn't see that ... but he is an RFA still ... Kovy is officially retired from the NHL I think ... so he's not a Free agent in any ways. He doesn't need to be protected UNLESS he is reactivated

Sobotka would have needed to be protected by STL, not sure if that's the same situation as Kovy or not.
ADHL has different and simplified rules than the NHL so no comparison here.

Had 1 year left on his deal, but Kovy had years remaining too. Not sure how the retirement papers change things or if those were actually how Kovy left,

The Keg Must See: USA goalie shoots for empty net, scores on himself
With Finland's net empty, USA goalie Dylan St. Cyr shoots for the empty-net but it deflects off a body and right into his own net. Fortunately the Americans would still hold on to capture the gold medal.
lol i cannot see it on tsn but sounds funny.. know anywhere else will have the clip?

In a fairly stunning admission on Monday, Sharks head coach Peter DeBoer told reporters that Joe Thornton played in four of San Jose’s six playoff games versus Edmonton with a significant knee injury.
Thornton, who was hurt against Vancouver late in the regular season, suffered tears to both his left MCL and ACL.

Don't like it. Didn't like his play after the first 20 games, and he just blocks someone like Pulock or Pelech from playing

oh shitty for the Poluck/other dudes ... but I think NYI are expecting a D to be selected.
Narcissistically, like it for my BBKL squad ... at least his cap hit

I'd say it's more likely they are ensuring they have enough depth post expansion. Not a contract that would block one of the kids from winning a job either.

Yup
Boychuk, Leddy, Hamonic getting protected leaves Pulock or de Haan as good options for Vegas

Apparently it should be fully healed by around the time the second round starts
