Can we keep that Matthews kid for a while? He's pretty good.
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Passed Laine in goals now too. Winnipeg media and some fans across the NHL were pretty funny early on talking about Laine being better since he had a handful more goals.

I think it really is a Crosby-ovi kind of comparison. Doubt either will be as good as those two but should be similar!

Laine is pretty elite, but he also has an all-star line.
Matthews has Brown and hyman.

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Wasn't a dig at Laine since he is a great player, but I don't think he is that close to Matthews in terms of value to a team and there is a bigger gap between Matthews and Laine then there is between Crosby and Ovechkin.

Mantha is coming into his own. The team is meh but I'm excited about his play.
It was an okay game but the third was fun. Love seeing young stars deliver. Matthews and Marner were really good.

Re-reading the Price / Halak stuff from the first couple pages of this thread is fun. Hell, re-reading a lot of those from 2010 is fun.

Elliott Friedman said 2 or 3 weeks ago that the yotes had interest, but at a cheap price. Doesn't get any cheaper than free.

Anton Khudobin placed on Waivers. BBKL Bruins may be making a backup goalie available for a dman. Jonas Gustafsson. Who has Talbot? Its gonna be the Zane McIntyre show in Beantown.

Chuck Norris wroteCOLONSuperMario wroteCOLONi like it for montreal. sell halak on a high when his free agent status is uncertain (salary hit etc).
Thats exactly it. They needed to sell Halak when his value was at its highest. I guarantee Montreal would not have gotten the same package if they tried to move Price....everyone would have wanted a discount on him. Price has the higher upside but obviously hasnt played as well as Halak. That being said it makes the most business sense as well. Both goalies needed to resign this year and Halak was obviously going to ask for a hefty raise. They can resign Price for about 2 million cheaper per year based on his performances, where as Halak is going to demand massive money from St Louis. They can then take that 2 million or however much they saved and put that towards upgrading elsewhere.
Like I said if Price turns it around Gauthier looks like a genius....if he doesnt then he looks like Mike Milbury a la moving Luongo for Dipietro.
