I like Lindberg, 2nd is good & Cowen needs work but size & skating is there.

Maybe Leafs fans are expecting more but it's tough moving a 7M multi-year deal (5 years?), not to mention mid-season. I think it's a solid move for both teams at first glance.

That's all it was. Losing the contract. Ottawa is going for it and cleaning out the scraps for a semi quality top 4 dman in dion. We did ok considering we didn't pay all that much for Phaneuf to begin with.

If the leafs buy out Cowen they actually get a cap credit next year

Wow what a deal. Sens get best player but way overpaid but they get rid of a bad contract in Greening. Lindberg is a tough loss to swallow. Leafs dump some shit contracts. Pros and cons both sides.

Seems like a decent hockey trade...a little bit of a house-cleaning move from a Leafs perspective. Phaneuf should help the Sens but the Atlantic is a very competitive division right now. They wouldn't put him and Karlsson together, would they?
