I had interest in Turco before he was signed...no way am I getting involved in this shit-storm. Considering you have no goaltending beyond Turco, it's risky to move him but you're probably not going to get better returns for him than at any other point in his remaining years. And it's not like goaltending is going to get you all that far this year anyway. Trade away!
It sounds like Theodore could sign with Nashville to backup Rinne. It's not a great situation but it's at least something. I'm going to be rolling with two backups this season...woot!

Yeah, I'm certainly not trying to win this year. But I'm guessing that at some point, someone who is will be willing to give up to get him. Turco infront of that line up has to be Toskala-esque to not be a lock for one of the best G (stat wise) this year. Look what it did to a relatively unknown player.

Top 6 and 1st for Turco? Or talk to me for a young goalie who'll play beyond this season.. hmmmmm

I'm looking forward to see what Turco actually fetches...

Who won't be anywhere near as good as Turco, who has proven that he can play with the big boys.

He'll be staying unless I get what I'm looking for
Someone already has offered me a top 6 forward and another goalie who is in a 1B status.

Dude, he was just unceremoniously dumped by Niewendyk... 2010 Turco =/= 2003 Turco.

Nieuwendyk has been a hatchetman to the long-time Stars this summer...no more Modano, Lehtinen and Turco. It's definitely a new era in Dallas.

You don't think Mason or Varlamov will be as good as Turco? Or "anywhere near as good"?

Not next year at least. I'd go so far as to say that both players took a step back in their development this year.

That's just it, next year... at least both of these goalies will be around long after next year.. Turco, I doubt will be playing 2 years from now. A 1st + top 6 for a year or 2? If Turco has a big year, he's obviously going to want more money.. which we all know the Hawks cannot spend..

And thus the delicate balance of winning now vs later. How many teams feel that they can win now at the expense of winning later? I only need one of them to feel as if they are in that position. If none feel like they are, then I'm not losing out on much, am I? I'm not trying to win now. Turco is still 34, he still has a number of good years left in him. And with the way the goalie market is crashing, I doubt his pay day will be that substantial. Not to mention he is getting paid 1.3 mil next year.

I'm also just gonna put this out there... this guy had better numbers that Mason when he won the Calder:

Turco had a better Save% than Niemi.

Such is life when you are trying to rebuild an absolutely raped team
But please. Tell me how it's trying hard to compare 2 players on the same career trajectory? Almost the same age, one had better stats in the year that they won the Calder, both bombed the following year. The only thing different is that Mason hasn't been traded. This year will go a long way in telling if he will be a back up in Vancouver or a Stanley cup winning goalie playing for cheap on a team coming off a Stanley Cup.... Well most of the same team anyways.

it`slooks liek Turco ain t going any where. Just like Alex Edler unless we get what where looking for.
But I think people would rather overpay for young stud like Edler then a old stud like Turco

You're acting as if Turco's a guarantee.. well my friend, that's the furthest thing from the truth. Will Chicago be a top team? Maybe.. maybe not! The thing I'm getting at is Mason for 10+ years or Turco for 1 or 2?
