waiting for a backlash against fighting in the league because of these deaths ...

I heard it was suicide, but am unsure if that is true.

First Boogard, then Rypien, then Belak...Does it seem odd to anyone else that all three cases were drug/depression related, and in the same off season to boot.

OMG this is so shocking and sad!!! wtf!!! i remember sending him an email saying im a big fan of his so if he comes to HK i will bring him around (when he is still a leafs and i hope he brings along my fav player sundin in).. and he is so nice and reply my email saying im probably the first (and now the last) fan of his from hong kong.......

Unreal. He wasn't the best player, but one of the best people.

So sad. RIP.

BTW, imho, this is basically the last season fighting is in the NHL. That's my bet right now. 3 guys in one summer, and the way NHL has handles things lately. That's my opinion.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I'm not sure if it will be out for sure, but things are going to change in terms of Safety, Regulation, Penalties (in game and outside), as well as on the medical side.

Something has gone wrong. Logic says, the only common factor between the 3 players is the medication/regimen they are on as enforcers. But I think something is being left out. Because how does this become a problem suddenly when it's been going on for years?

he has his own website.. so i dropped an message to his email on his website.. and he actually replied me back and say he didn't know he actually have fans from HK! this is really so sad.. i still haven't met him... RIP..

You don't find it odd that all 3 were fights that were addicted to pain killers and depressed? The key ingredient is head trauma. Sure, there are other players that have this. But 3 players in one summer, all fighters, the NHL will be changing the rules for fighting before the 2012-2013 season, 100% guaranteed.
