SuperMario wroteCOLONpeople in this thread are grilling frank way too much. He upgraded 39 year old Brodeur to 29 year old Anderson for practically free. Omark + Greene are obviously not amazing nhlers but Omark had 27 points in 51 games as a rookie. Not to mention he gets Schroeder, a 1st this year and another one next year. These aren't shit pieces. he received a lot of value. Yes he lost Sharp, but I can guarantee, Frank will turn this team around by December. It's a lock.
Good post and the truth

regardless, that's still a bunch of average shit. you don't win with a bunch of average shit, you win with good players like sharp.

you're turning your average shit into good players, while frank is turning his good players into average shit.

see the difference? one team is a favourite to win, the other is not.

Anderson is not that good, let alone calling Anderson an upgrade on Brodeur, regardless of age. He had a good 15 games to end the season as a UFA at 29. He's had other 10-15 game stretches in his career that are good. But so have Conklin, Boucher and Garon. There is a reason these guys don't hold down #1 spots for long. They are extremely inconsistent.

I would trade everything involved in the trade, from both sides, for Sharp alone.

I dont think you guys are understanding what Frank's position is. He would never be able to contend with just Sharp. He needs to make little gains in every trade. His team won't be ready to compete in the time that Brodeur is still playing (2 years). And to move Brodeur alone, any gm with any common sense would make him pay through the nose. Nor would it be easy. now he has a bunch of moveable pieces and slowly he will come out of it.

You can say you like the trade more for me. But you can't categorically say Frank got raped. He did well for his side. Nick, Steve both agree too so im not the only one who thinks Frank did okay. Those of you who think I have edge are analyzing it with a level head. Those who call it rape most certainly do not understand the steps necessary to pull a team out of a shit hole like the state Calgary is in right now.

You definitely don't trade Patrick Sharp for a pile of meh if you want to build a good team. That's for sure.

Sharp will be the best player in this deal over the long haul...deal will look great for Shiv if Brodeur plays beyond this contract (assuming he doesn't trade him today).

Things Nicklas Lidstrom would say during the 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs

You are out to lunch on this one...You can't win with Sharp alone, but that doesn't mean it's better to deal him for a bunch of average pieces than to keep him. You make small gains by dealing your top players for overpayment. This was a brutal deal no matter how you slice it.

No, but you should more often because 99% of the time you're wrong.

You should copy and paste your sentence in to your sig..
