LMAO, that's kind of ironic isn't it Shiv? My biggest rivals in BBKL, also seem to be the teams I hate most in real life: Pitsburgh (I hate Crosby), Boston (they have asshole fans, and now Seguin), and NJD (play a BORING style of hockey).

i think you are going to be pleasantly surprised by NJD this year. they will be exciting to watch. Parise-Zajac-Kovalchuk line will be one of if not the best in the NHL this year.

That goal is probably the main reason I hate him...It jumpstarted the "Crosby > god" hype train, giving rise to asinine claims like the one you just made above.

How anyone can claim Crosby is a better player than OV is beyond me, to date the only thing he has done better is team related, and if that were the be all and end all of the debate, than Malkin should be the best player in the world, because I seem to recall him winning the Conny Smyth during the Cup Run, not Sidney...

Kareem... acting as if thats a concrete argument is dumber then saying its more then opinion that separates the two!

Both have won the NHL point race, goal scoring title, & MVP... at silly young ages...

lol kareem. you can think ov is better than crosby i dont care. id personally take crosby on my team over ov any day. but thats opinion based. but to say you hate crosby is absolutely retarded. hockey fans cant hate great hockey players (that too hockey players that are once-in-a-generation players). like i said i dont even believe you hate him.

I think they are about level shiv...To say one is head and shoulders above is stupid, and a by product of the Crosby Hype Train (CHT).

As for my dislike of him, I can hate whoever the fuck I want to hate, whether or not you believe me, means about as much to me as whether or not you're team gets bounced in the first or second round.

How is that dumb...They are level players, the stats and accomplishments bear that out. Team achievments are stupid to bring up when comparing two similar players (not stylistically), especially so early on in their careers, as you so eloquently put it...They are "at silly young ages."

i think its great that you used this post as an opportunity to point out that you can hate whoever you want. but as a hockey fan, i would put money on this, when you watch crosby play there is NO WAY you dont respect it and dignify the skill level. you cant ever hate his game on that level

and i would take crosby over ovechkin for my team any day. but again that is my opinion. im sure millions of people disagree but for me its an easy choice.

That's a seperate argument altogether...Of course I respect his skill, I also respect the leadership of Adolf Hitler, doesn't mean I like him...Save for the assasination of millions of jews (that was awesome)...Just Kidding. Not really.

You also think Datsyuk is the best player in the world, your opinon is of little consequence to me.

lol the jews comment was out of left field. we're talking about people who like hockey watching one of the best players of his time play. on a pure hockey level based on what you just said, you like crosby. the only reason you are saying you hate him is because youre getting caught up in all the fandom and the bullshit that goes along with it.

and btw If there was a draft TODAY to pick a team to win the championship THIS YEAR, Datsyuk would be the first forward i choose. obviously crosby/ov are far better bets long term, better fantasy wise, etc etc. but personally (again this is an opinion argument) to win a championship this year, datsyuk would be my first choice. and if you've seen datsyuk at his best (and believe me you will this year when detroit wins the cup) you would not dismiss him like you just did even with crosby and ovechkin out there.

in a Washington vs Detroit Final, Ovechkin's line would get raped by Datsyuk or Zetterberg. I'd even take Zetterberg on my team before Ovechkin to win the Cup this year.

I fully acknowledge that my hate towards Crosby is rooted in "fandom", but it doesn't make my hatred towards him any less that it is.

As for Dats, I fully respect his game, guy has the best hands I've ever seen. Datsyuk is unquestionably the more rounded player, but what OV does well is better than anyone else in the game, it is truly game breaking. Ditto with Crosby, no one else in the NHL, save for Malkin (when on) has as great an impact individually. Of course we could argue who has the greater overall impact on a 30 man squad or X system (not individually), but thats almost impossible to prove one way or the other.

yeah for me one year team, Datsyuk is the guy I take. Personal preference. Here's how I'd rank top 5 players to take to win the cup this year at each position (keep in mind this is my opinion):

Forwards
(btw I retract the statement about zetterberg. id take Ovechkin before him. i think i was too focused on what would happen in a Detroit vs Washington match up and not every series)

1. Datsyuk
2. Crosby
3. Toews
4. Ovechkin
5. Malkin

Defence

1. Lidstrom
2. Pronger
3. Keith
4. Chara
5. Don't Have a definite one here

Goaltending

1. Miller
2. Brodeur
3. Luongo
4. Lundqvist
5. Fleury

My first pick would be Eric Staal... in the playoffs he's simply BEAST

I cannot think of any forward who adapts and excels through and to match-ups better then he does, hell he has that Staal family pain tolerance that allows him to do insane things like attack Chara.

Staal is defnitely a solid pick. Another awesome forward to have is Getzlaf. he was playing injured all of last year. i think when hes on few can keep up with him.
