We vote on it and went for this. I'm super-happy with how it turned out, and I picked the second worst team in the league to begin with.

Needing to re-tool means you have more moves to make to improve your team, & more options! You should ask Shiv, his team is so elite its almost impossible to make a trade that improves his roster!
So my opinion is worth less because I'm not an original member?
Shiv's team may be elite, he also had a bigger base that Kristian Huselius and Pavel Kubina to work from.

Bad GMs were allowed to make bad moves, and it's the new blood who have to suffer for it.
I'll agree to one thing, you have to give to get. It just seems that certain people do all of the giving while certain others do all the getting.
Are you, a GM for under three months, seriously suggesting we restart the league for your convenience? You were not forced to take over Tampa when you did, and you are most certainly not owed anything by the more successful franchises. Besides, would you really want to take over a powerhouse? It would be boring.
As for people overvaluing their players? Don't trade for those pieces, plain and simple. The key to being a good GM is finding an imbalance in value vs perceived value and take advantage of it. Nobody's going to trade for these guys on your block because it's a scrap heap with box-store pricing.
Put some non-shit up there, even with price tags and I guarantee you'll get a better response. There's no way you'll improve your roster without taking some big risks.
All I'm saying is now that you have weeded out some bad GMs, and are starting to get a stable group, that good GMs with bad luck have a long way to go to get anywhere. My time in this league shouldn't hold any less weight when it comes to my voice. I'd like to think that I've proven myself to not be a complete fuck up like the past Tampa GMs.

Even in fantasy the Toronto Maple Leafs don't make the playoffs.

So is Tim Jackman. Oreskovich is atleast 5 years younger than anyone you mentioned. Infact.. almost all of the players on my block are. Desj was a top 3 goalie in the AHL. Sullivan probably isn't worth a 2nd, but he is easily worth a a chance 3rd.
Kana will be in the NHL this year. Chaput is an average prospect.
Umm... he'll be at most a 2nd line center in Springfield, dude has absolutely no defense.
Huselius - Vermette - Nash
Filatov - Brassard - Voracek
Umberger - Pahlsson - Dorsett
Boll - Blunden - Clark
Moreau... Murray... Calvert.. Mayorov... Fritsche(tryout)

Kezia the story here is this: If you are going to oversell your prospects do it via msn. If you do it on the boards you'll get ripped where everyone can read it. Odds are none of the guys commenting have any interest in any of the players.

i) I was clearly joking about Shiv, the guy is convinced he's the run away favourite but continues to make more trades then anyone else in the BBKL.
ii) Time in league definitely effects the weight of your voice, some of us have been contributing members to the league for over a year.
iii) There is so much movement in this league a few months of good calls can swing around a team, or vice-versa: crash a good team.
iv) no one likes a complainer.

You're voice most certainly doesn't have the same weight as longer tenured GMs, especially when you're proposing we tear it down and restart for your convenience.

It seems as though everything gets ripped regardless of where it's posted, and it's not just my stuff, if I listen to the people who tell me the same thing.

I am happy with the way it turned out too, even if when I started I didnt have a goalie lol. It was pretty fun this way and different from most leagues.

Dunno dude, I've seen lots of trade blocks that price the players appropriately, if you like the player -> I actually kinda like Kana, but his value has surely decreased from draft year.

You're gonna put Kana, a player who cannot play in his own zone on a 4th line? Or perhaps you fancy him a 2nd liner over Brassard? 3rd liner over Pahlsson? Umberger? Get real... He has 50 games at .5ppg in the AHL after being barely better at the ECHL level. I'll put a 2nd rounder on Kana playing less than 30 games at the NHL level this year. Care to wager?

I'm not proposing that at all. I'm just simply stating that I'd like to see where we would be after a year with known good GMs instead of the state it's in today.

There are 28 other GMs in the league that might like the player at the price I posted, and if not, feel free to offer. I'm not taking a 6th rounder (as offered by someone posting in this thread) for a sub 30 year old NHLer.

I offered a 6th for your choice of Tucker/Artyukhin/Mair. 3 guys without contracts, one of whom might well be retiring, another could easily end up in the KHL. Players of this calibur will soon be available for free on the waiver wire.

He'll start on the 4th line like most other average prospects.

very few prospects spend any duration on the 4th line, it would hurt their development. Not only would it be playing out of their normal role, it would mean playing less. Thats the trick with development, a player is ready for the NHL when he's ready for his role in the NHL, it doesn't change much early in one's career (note: dman are different from forwards, but this was in regards to forwards given the 4th line reference).

Didn't you also offer a 6th for Oreskovic? All 3 of those players are easily worth a 3rd rounder. Tucker had 24 points and 87 hits last year in 71 games . Arty had 16 points and 127 hits in 50 games . Mair had 16 and 95 hits in 69 games. Feel free to check their other stats and tell me that they are worth 6th rounders.
