I just noticed Josh Morrissey is in the same position as bennett (played 20 something games in the AHL a few years ago) and for some reason cap friendly has him as expansion exempt but not bennett. I'm not understanding this at all.

Josh Morrissey was probably loanded by his chl team. Same as honka for me.

So because bennett was injured and then stayed with the pro clubs he isn't exempt. OK, makes sense.

so official is 7 forwards, 3 defensemen and 1 goalie?

You might want to hold off on trading that C now.

Found this a few days back and posted in the CC. These guys asked the NHL for clarification on some expansion rules and the replies explain alot. Should clear up your confusion.

yea the bennett thing still bothers me, i'm assuming it's b/c of his playoff games but I don't think that they use that for contract slides or ELC or anything else. ... so not following
