problem is in this case it got expensive before the G developed further (or showed promise this past season)hong57 wroteCOLONno big deal on moving a first.. goalie prospects (i duno much about this guy) but they are expensive to get once they develop further...
watch Shiv quit again and that pick become a lottery one. The fact it's 2yrs away makes the deal worse than if it was CHI '17 cause there is much more time for the value of that pick to possibly change (increase)Fraser wroteCOLONPeople over value the fuck out picks.
I've noticed people in this league don't seem to think people change. I'd say I've come a long way from those days. I used to be a young kid hell bent on winning this league. Now I'm just here to hang out with you guys. We should stop the old narrative .kyuss wroteCOLONwatch Shiv quit again

to be clear, that was not a prediction... just pointing out that when people assume a pick 2yrs from now is going to be late in the round they should consider things can actually change a lot during a 2yrs span. And with the lottery involving all non playoff teams all it takes is that team missing the playoffs for the pick to become potentially a top pickRobin Hood wroteCOLONI've noticed people in this league don't seem to think people change. Are you seriously arguing that an 18 1st is worth more than a 17 1st? That has to be the most ass backwards argument I've seen yet. There is one argument and one argument only for why you wouldn't trade a 1st for Halverson. He's just not that good. That is a lot of assumed risk on Kimmy's part betting on a goalie that is a good not great goalie prospect that is probably at least 3 years away from ever getting a sniff at the NHL level. And that's if he doesn't flame out before that.kyuss wroteCOLONwatch Shiv quit again and that pick become a lottery one. Fixed that for you SteveThe BBKL Insider wroteCOLONI made my team younger this summer, 1st Rounder (LAK) 2017 looks to be a bottom 5 pick (essentially a playoff lock in the west)
What Mik is saying - a lot can happen over the course of a year or 2.
haha, I was being a little sarcastic..that said, I don't see a top 5 finish (league wide). Maybe top 5 or 6 in the west; let's not forget my goalie is Bobrovski.Sensfanjosh wroteCOLONFixed that for you SteveThe BBKL Insider wroteCOLONI made my team younger this summer, 1st Rounder (LAK) 2017 looks to be a bottom 5 pick (essentially a playoff lock in the west)

I read exactly what you wrote and its absolute hogwash. Under no circumstances is a 1st round pick a year down the road worth more than a first now. 2 years, 3 year, etc. Yes a lot can happen, but it goes both ways. Who's to say Shiv's team doesn't improve and that 2018 1st is later than the 2017 1st? Who's to say Shiv's team doesn't get decimated by injuries this season and misses the playoffs? You can quantify the value of something that hasn't happened yet.kyuss wroteCOLONI'm not sure you did read what I wroteCasperX22 wroteCOLONAre you seriously arguing that an 18 1st is worth more than a 17 1st?kyuss wroteCOLONwatFraser wroteCOLONPeople over value the fuck out picks.
