Sigh #bringbackshivSuperMario wroteCOLONWelcome Other_Mike. As the former Pens GM, I've listed my take on all of the players you own.
Below are my player valuations, why I owned certain players, and what my plans were. By no means is my word gospel (in fact most people will tell you about all the times I made mistakes). But you will find that understanding your own player values is one of the most difficult things in BBKL because everyone has an opinion and value is very hard to gauge. Thought it would help to hear it from the person who was in your shoes last.
I've also included what I paid in brackets with whether I think I won the trade or not to help you out (my memory is slightly hazy on some)
Pavelski (WIN: Pavelski + Sekera for Poms + Wheeler + Cleary or something like that)
Everyone wants Joe Pavelski. He will be your most sought after player. Do not give in easily. Many "good" deals will come about. Option 1 is to hold him and never trade him. If you must trade him, wait for exceptional offers. They're out there because some GMs understand how great of a C he is to own.
Plekanec (WIN (trust me): Nathan Horton + 4 2013 1sts paid in 2011)
Tomas Plekanec is your most valuable player after Pavelski. Don't listen to what people say about him. In BBKL, Plekanec is gold. My advice would be to never trade him. You will never get the right amount of BBKL value for him unlike a guy like Pavelski (who people are willing to pay for but they are not for Plekanec).
Cam Ward/Khudobin (LOSS: Pavelec + WPG system + Joe Morrow + 1st)
The Carolina tandem is an unwanted one in this league. If you shop them, people will tell you Cam Ward is a scrub and overpaid. But you could have 2 starters in Khudobin and Ward before the end of next year.
Mike Fisher (WIN: Filppula)
He is a beast. He is one of a handful of players that hits about 8/12 skater categories. And he gets a lot of playing time.
Milan Michalek (MEH: Sharp + Wilson for Michalek + Dupuis)
This is a player I landed for value in another deal. A great trade target for you. But at the same time, he could rebound.
Chris Kunitz (WIN: Joe Thornton for Kunitz + Poms)
Do NOT trade him. He will play with Crosby and is on probably a Top 5 BBKL contract. If there is ONE player you don't trade it's Kunitz, followed by Plekanec IMO.
Pascal Dupuis (MEH: Sharp + Wilson for Michalek + Dupuis)
The trade to acquire is meh IMO but Dupuis is an incredible piece to own also. He is definitely tradeable because he doesn't get you STPTS but he does everything else. Him and Kunitz also allow you to create Crosby in the aggregate.
Clarke MacArthur (WIN: Stafford + Oduya for MacArthur)
MacArthur would follow Kunitz and Plekanec for me. Stellar contract, first line minutes, gets SHTOI. Be careful on this one. MacArthur is the kind of player new BBKLers lose trades on because it's hard to lose trades on a Pavelski or Kunitz. MacArthur is a championship piece though definitely tradeable.
Brad Boyes (don't recall, it was a 1 for 1)
Definitely tradeable. A replacement player who puts up good amounts of points. He started killing penalties in FLA last year so be on the lookout for that. His value goes up if he continues.
Mason Raymond (Nino for Raymond straight)
Raymond was great for me last year. But he wasn't great the year before in Vancouver. Judgment call required.
Drew Miller
Probably your most underrated player after Ben Lovejoy. Miller is the ideal #11-#12 forward on a championship team. You could always trade him/create a package with him and get someone who is not as good as him to fill that spot. He gives you some great options.
Cody McLeod
Drew Miller-lite but more of a guy that comes in from the press box. Similar options in trades. Keep or package. 1 for 1 likely won't help unless it's a positional swap.
Brian Campbell
He's the BBKL whore that no one wants but once you have him, it is hard not to appreciate what he brings. Still $7.143M and your most expensive player. Hard to say. I got him because I quickly realized that points from the back end are important and I'd deviated from it slightly too much last season because of a battle MTL and I were having.
Andrei Markov (WIN: Carl Gunnarsson)
Great BBKLer. But also getting older and trade value is tough. You may not get value back.
Brooks Orpik
I realize WSH is getting heck for giving him that contract but believe it or not I think he is worth that in BBKL. That being said, there are GMs who would never pay Orpik that much money to block shots, get hits and put up SHTOI ont heir BBKL teams.
Jan Hejda
Not much to say. Stats don't lie but he is old.
Roman Polak
This one's a keeper. This is a Leaf league and Polak will see some great minutes in Toronto. If you trade him, I'd wait till mid season for the Leafs.
Andrej Sekera
A do not trade player for me. 2.75M for a player who puts up numbers = to a #1 D on many teams. Don't even bother, you have plenty of other players you can move before him on D or other positions.
Ben Lovejoy
See Andrej Sekera
Nate Guenin
Very cheap contract. Good depth player
Nathan Gerbe
BBKL hates this guy. They will tell you he is small and won't last but he got a contract extension and puts up numbers. The two stats important with him are: 1) SHTOI as a winger and 2) SOG - he gets a LOT. A lot more than someone getting paid as much as him should. So value him correctly
David Schlemko
Not much to say
Last thing: If I was to have stayed the Pens GM, the core I'd have built around is: Pavelski, Plekanec, Fisher, Kunitz, MacArthur, Miller, Polak, Sekera, Lovejoy - I'd put everyone else on the block.
Hope this helps. I check in from time to time to talk hockey with everyone here, so PM me if you need an opinion.
You will have a silent cheerleader in me with that team . Do some good! Rooting for you.

Your team is not currently up to date. CC will work with you to ensure no assets will fall through the gap, hopefully any GM who finds a missing Vancouver asset will alert you as well.Fraser wroteCOLONSo I've got a question for whoever can answer. Looking through roster submissions for last season I see Mike Green was on the Canucks. But on fantrax he's among the FA's. Anyone know what happened there?
