So that wasn't an obvious gross exaggeration on my part?

The only comparison they have is that they are both Russian.Nick wroteCOLONYak is Bure - game is different and Oil don't have Patt Quinn making it work.
Yak is def not Bure LOLNick wroteCOLONYak is Bure - game is different and Oil don't have Patt Quinn making it work.
Oh man.... wouldn't go that far yet nick does he have similar skill set than bure yes, does he have unreal skating like bure yes does he have bure like speed I'd say yes, but now I ask you this does yak wow you every time he's on the ice no, does yak go end to end on a regular basis and score goals? No I know yaks played only 50 plus games in the nhl and he's still young but to say he's Bure is a little out there IMO right now in yaks carrier, I wanna see what yak will be like in 2 to 3 years he's a very skill player and a very special player IMO with some great skills but just like all young players he needs some time to figure it out and mature, Dallas Eakin will make him your break him IMO time will tellSuperMario wroteCOLONLOL...He has not shown anything close to it. Big difference between the Oilers and MarliesNick wroteCOLONI have some faith in Eakins, iirc started slow with the Marlies as well, but sure did good things with them and a lot of our young-guys.
Now - will he ever get through to Yak or accept his style of play? I dunno.
Yak is more comparible to Alexander Daigle than Pavel Bure IMOcliff11 wroteCOLONOh man.... wouldn't go that far yet nick does he have similar skill set than bure yes, does he have unreal skating like bure yes does he have bure like speed I'd say yes, but now I ask you this does yak wow you every time he's on the ice no, does yak go end to end on a regular basis and score goals? Hahaha I would t go that far
i was using the Daigle as a stretch - i was trying to show that there's as much as a chance he becomes a Daigle as a Bure.SuperMario wroteCOLONNot saying it will happen with Yakupov, but there is definitely a chance he leaves for the KHL imo. He has the "Russian" mentatlity for lack of a better way to put it. He think he's a star already because he knows he would be in the KHL.
The Daigle comparison seems like a stretch right now but could happen. Yakupov is one #1 overall pick with who I can see a similar storyline, even if unlikely
