Which is entirely the point. I'd have rather paid him more aav on a 3-4 year deal rather than giving him 8 years. Handing out 8 year megadeals to 30 something players is asking for trouble.

Agreed
He is paid less than Phaneuf and the AAV is fine but locking him up for years 31-39 is not a move I'd be happy with if I'm a Hawks fan.
