Tragic, I was following the updates on twitter. Sounds like a great young man, and a battler in every sense of the word.

Apparently the Leafs are close to extending Schenn for 3-4 years @ a 3 mil cap hit.

That is a very reasonable cap hit, I am elated to see the Leafs are not offering him a contract in the neighborhood of 4/5 million annually, which I do not believe he is even close to worth.

11:30 for the official Atlanta to Winnipeg presser. I wanted another team in Canada, but not like this.

Fuck you Bettman, fuck you ASG. Congrats to the city of Winnipeg and I feel terrible for the fans in Atlanta.

The cities you always hear about for expansion are: Seattle, Kansas City and Las Vegas, throw Quebec City in there and you can probably bet good money on one of those 4 cities.

I don't, I think that is right where it should be, higher than he is currently making, but less than 4 million which is reserved for proven top 3 defensive defenceman, or a more complete (more talented) defenceman. Keep in mind that Mike Komisarek only landed 4.5 on the open market, and that was as a proven commodity.

If you want to eat up rfa and ufa years there needs to be a factor for what the player will be. Call me silly, paint me stupid, but I still have bigger dreams for Luke.

His potential consists largely of intangibles such as: grit, leadership and a stabilizing presence on D. These traits don't typically command top dollar.

That all being said, I am beginning to think the twitter report is a fake, if it were real the deal would have been announced by now, or at least confirmed by a reputable source. Still, I can't see Luke getting more than 3.75.
