First session at bat was nice - gotta love the depth in the middle of our lineup!

Dolomite wroteCOLONthis deal is kinda going to put a bigger risk on banking on the already weak bullpen we have by ridding frasor and Dotel though. Tallet CAN be a reliable RP but I don't know if the tradeoff may be worth the difference. Rasmus wasn't doing too hot after a little hot streak early in the season but certainly another young talent with better things to come hopefully. Let's just hope that his dad doesn't come on the field telling Farrell what to do with his son.
sigh lol

Just a day after trading Halladay for CarGo, and Beckett, Bedard, and Stanton for Lincecum and Adams, I needed a huge pitching performance to pressure the 2nd place guy into making a hasty and stupid move. Instead, Weaver goes 9 innings, and leaves without the win or a CG.
Fuck.

Jays trade 2B Aaron Hill + INF John McDonald to Arizona for 2B Kelly Johnson.

How outraged should I be about this trade? I really know very little about baseball outside of Adam Lind.

Aside from the fact that Kelly is younger, they look the same, bats about the same (slight edge to Kelly with the exception of Hill's career year in 08), and has about the same body build. I like him still though, as he's got his hot streaks.

Kelly Johnson has shown legit 20 HR power the last two years, that alone is a big upgrade on Aaron Hill.

Reading Hill's farewell it doesn't sound as if he'll be selling his house. Same for McDonald.
Kinda strange, yet heartening, that they both seem very eager to return to Toronto in the off season. I hope to see McDonald back for sure, nicest guy in Toronto sports. And maybe a few months off the team will do Hill some good.

Nathan's still a good option. It generally takes at least a year to two years to full recover from Tommy John, and regain the feel necessary for pitching.

I had him throughout last year's fantasy baseball. He was okay on occasion, actually pretty solid to be honest in some stretch after getting over some brutal slump upon his return. Worked his way back as a mid reliever --> Setup man and eventually back on the closer role after canning Matt Capps. He's only getting older though that's my fear.
