no. F&*K your stubborn on signing guys before they should be signed, no one pushes this topic harder then you.

3 draft years of eligibility for north americans, c cannot be picked more then twice.

There are lots of 1990, aka 2008 original draft year players, being drafted in this draft, your interpreting this rule the way you'd like.
Who is eligible to be drafted?

1. Any player who is 18 - 20 years old as of September 15 in the Calendar Year of the Entry Draft
its the 2008 North American hockey year's last chance, then they are UFA, same reason why he was signed AFTER the NHL draft.

i think its sept 15, the hockey year cut-off.. but it doesn't make a difference in this regard.

EDIT: never mind, bryan is correct:
section 8.10 of the NHL CBA:
Age of Players
"age 20" means a Player reaching his 20th birthday by no later then decemeber 31st in the calander year of the entry draft.

asking for clarification..

as soon as a player is dropped by someone else, he can be signed by the first GM coming? theoretically even 5 minutes after?

now, another thing pertaining this particular case:
Igor Makarov was dropped by Chicago http://www.bbklhockey.com/viewtopic.php ... 922#p10922
after his signing with the real BlackHawks had already been reported on capgeek (7/14 09:09 am), so being under contract already i suppose he could not be dropped; am i wrong?

You cannot drop anyone with a contract. Makarov will go back to Chicago.

but didnt he drop him and then makarov signed a contract a few hours later? that should still make him available to be dropped and then picked up even if it was only a few hours...

We do allow a decision to drop a player at the signing of a new contract -> not saying you have to, simply that it is an option.
