for you retards who think this is a win for the jackets, here is why it's not.

Both RJ and Hartnell are 32.

-Similar size who play a similar roll. Hartnell has played 300 more games in his NHL career, which means his body is more 'worn'
-Both guys have stayed fairly healthy throughout their careers.
-both average slightly more than 0.5 PPG.

The difference is, Hartnell has 5 years left on his contract at 4.75mil, whereas, RJ has 3 years left at 4.6mil.

To top it all off, and the real reason the flyers kill this deal

i hate hartnell, guy sucks at hockey and can't stake anymore

write up by Morrison about team needs:
TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS

Top priority: Power forward for top six

The situation: It's about time the Maple Leafs sought flashy puck-movers from the back end to aid in the transition game after allowing a League-high 35.9 shots per game in 2013-14. There might not be that exact player available when they pick in the first round, but don't be surprised if Toronto plucks a few defensemen in the later rounds. The guess here is that the Maple Leafs will choose the best available player on the board in the opening round, and that likely will be a forward. That's certainly not a bad thing; this year's draft has a plethora of talented centers and wings. It's also possible the Maple Leafs take a flyer on a goalie; the organization is in need of an up-and-comer between the pipes.

Possible fits: Right wing Jake Virtanen (Calgary, WHL); left wing Nicholas Ritchie (Peterborough, OHL); right wing Alex Tuch (USNTDP, USHL).

less wear on his body https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WT-rKapJDXk ?

I have no clue how to make that youtube function work.

topic 2: leafs needs -> I saw Virtanen a couple of times live this year, and he was not an impressive WHLer compared to many others I saw throughout the year.

Ritchie, Fiala, Nylander, Ehlers, Fleury at 8 for me.

(not in that order, in any order really)

Fiala is a machine, but I wonder if he hasn't climbed past the worth on his boom/bust potential.

Nylander has some unreal skill for the 8 spot - Fleury looks exceptionally capable all around and Ritchie has that size+mean+shot combo every team would love in their top 6. None of them are Eklbad though...
