The score also touched on this topic during their morning show, they said shanny had more than just lukewarm interest at grabbing a top 3 pick and would use the 8th pick + a good young player to try and get in the top 3

Unless we are planning on tanking next season I don't see how this makes sense from a Leafs perspective. We are getting a good player at 8, I don't think a developed and successful former 7th overall pick is worth moving up 5 spots. With the Leafs luck Kadri will be a top 25 point producer like 2 seasons ago and the 8th pick will turn out better than the 3rd.

Ritchie could be a few different guys, but I don't think Bennett and Reinhart are sure bets to even be better than Kadri.

Tavares, Hedman, Duchene, Kane, Schenn and OEL were the players that went before Kadri and I don't think this years prospects are projected to be in that class. The draft has some depth, but the top end lacks star power with no one really that hyped.

it will be interesting to see what happens.
