Really? I would take giroux over a lot of players on canada. Better offensive player than most and can pk too

I guess I agree with crazy old Ed Snider since I'd take Giroux over 8 of the 15 forwards so half like he said. Points aren't everything, but only Tavares has more points that Giroux for Canadians over the last 3 seasons. This was a player recently talked about as an elite top 5 NHLer and it seems like a slow start to this year has severely hurt his reputation.

The thing is we are so talented it doesn't make a big difference, but I'd swap Giroux with any of the following and I don't think we would be any worse.

Kunitz - agreed but brought on for chemistry with Crosby
Marleau - better PKer than Giroux
Carter - better PKer + Sniper (critical especailly with Stamkos out)
Duchene - debatable
Benn - debatable
Nash - agreed
Sharp - Toews/Sharp/Hossa line is arguably the best in the NHL
MSL - emotional pick but I'm fine with it

I'd have taken Giroux hands down over Nash though. That is just crap IMO.

Forgot Marleau was on the team, i dislike him, i'd take Giroux over him as well

Giroux over - Marleau, Carter, Nash

Woudln't make a difference: Duchene, Sharp, MSL

i'd put Benn in a different class than Girouz. Bigger, stronger, and as fast.

Ya we are splitting hairs here picking between all star players who are the best on their respective teams. I prefer Giroux over a handful, but also see no problem with him being left off since there are other great players.

That wrist/finger injury in the off-season was predicted to have him miss time to start the year, he came back early and started slow, but since the 10-11-12 game make he's been as good as anybody in the league. Last 25 he's been rolling - guy has had some big games against Russians and other top players in the past, I wish he was there.

Regarding ed snider - w/ e, guys a rich goof, it seems with more money you get to have more opinions that people view as credible, or at least worth repeating.

For the role he is going to play on Team Canada, Marleau definitely > Giroux. Marleau-Bergeron will be one of the best PK units in the tournament.
