Sort of how i view it. I guess Savards #1 pick was Toronto and since neither burke or Cha could have invisioned the Bruins picking 2nd with the Kessel pick I can see it as sort of a win-win for both teams.
Savard
for
Kenny Ryan + Sjoustrom + Aulie

Rumors I've heard from several bloggers etc. Today are:
Savard for
Grabo + Kulemin + something small
Savard is the odd man out, this is an unintended consequence of the Kessel Deal. Seguin gives them too many Centers with Krejci, Bergeron, Seguin now. Savard is a 4.2 something cap hit, but hes really being paid 6.5-7 in real dollars for the next couple years. Added his concussion issues this year, his price couldn't be lower. Bruins save 1 mil+ in cap unless we take a dump back, but save ~4+ million in real dollars.
I wouldn't mind having him, + the return for Kabs it'd be pretty awesome.
Random fact Luke Schenn will be the oldest serving leaf is Kabs and Kules are traded.

I'd do it. Losing Kulemin hurts but he can be replaced. And I hate Grabo so I pray that he's def involved if this deal were to come to fruition. And Savard and Kessel get to reunite!!

The Toronto Star just reported a swap or
Grabovski + minor prospect for Savard
fuck we'd kill that deal.

uggg...This doesn't look good for Savard in boston..
Yesterday, an NHL source confirmed that Boston Bruins centre Marc Savard was willing to waive his no-trade clause if it meant a move to either Toronto or Ottawa.
The 32-year-old is reportedly going through family issues and would like to be closer to his wife's home in Oshawa, Ont. Savard, an Ottawa native, played his junior hockey with the Oshawa Generals.
Burke would not comment on the situation.

Heh, I can tell you second hand that his wife may not be quite faithful.

If he has asked to be moved for personal reasons, I can see the Bruins waiting till after Jul 1st so his list of teams to be traded to increases to 5, to give them some more value. A lot of people seem to think that he will be a salary dump going to the Leafs, which is crazy talk. If he is traded it will be for fair value. The Bruins do not have to move him for cap reasons. The team is fine. Bob McKenzie is a respected hockey insider, so when he says that there is a high possibility Savard will be moved you have to give him some respect. It is the deals and rumours that follow a statement like that which is quite comical.

Agreed, it would be very un-PC to take less than value for him.

im not sure its the cap hit that many teams will be weary of as much as the 7M a year in real money he will be paid in the next two seasons

Bobby Mac said it's going to be a "soft deal", those were not random rumours...Your nuts if you think Savard is going to get fair value, he is a 32 year old centerman with 7 million owed in real dollars and 4 previous concussions...His last one was so bad he couldn't be in light or watch a full hockey game...That shit is serious. Not to mention he apparently wants out, and has a limited NTC that includes 3 teams that cannot, or will not make room for him (MTL, CHI, PHI). That leaves two destinations, Toronto and Ottawa. Not exactly a perfect setting to pick up fair value.
The same shit happened with Kubina, and countless other NHL players with a high salary owed, injury issues, or limited NTC, unfortunately for you Savard has all three working against him.

Valid points. But if that is the case, why would Boston trade him? He is arguably a top 10-15 centerman in the league on a team potentially going for the cup this upcoming season? PC is not going to be put in the same situation that Murray was with Heatley. The money for teams could be an issue and maybe the B's are being pressured from ownership but a cap hit of 4 mil for a guy likely to put up 80 points or more for the next few seasons is quite reasonable.
If a deal must be struck and Toronto is the target, I can honestly see a deal centered around Savard and Kaberle. With some other pieces involved like Hunwick. Until this goes down we are all speculating but I guarantee you will not see PC getting raped like TO did with Calgary. That is not his MO and he and Burke have a good repertoire and respect each other. This one will be fun to watch to see what pans out. It actually could be very beneficial to both teams if it is a deal around Kaberle and Savard. TO instantly becomes, imo, a fringe playoff team or higher. And Boston gets its puck moving D for a similar cap hit.

The Bruins deal him for two reasons, one he has reportedly asked for a trade out, and two he has severe concussion history, not to mention the money could be better spent on the wings.
The main reason I think Toronto gets this deal done for cheap is that they don't need to overpay, too many factors working against Boston here, particulaurly the limited NTC. You don't always get value for a good player, I.E. Kubina for Exelby + plug who never played here.

However, like you in the bbkl kyle, they have cap issues.. and having 6 top 3 centre-men doesn't work in terms of play...
in term of importance:
Seguin
Krecji
Savard
Bergeron
Colborne
Marchand
Vladimir Sobotka
Steve Begin
in terms of value:
Seguin
Krecji
Bergeron
Colborne
Savard
Marchand
Vladimir Sobotka
Steve Begin
All this creating a unique situation wherein Savard might actually be of negative value to the organization.
I believe your lw--rw depth is:
Milan Lucic - Nathan Horton
Blake Wheeler - Mark Recchi
Marco Sturm - Michael Ryder
Daniel Paille - Shawn Thornton
Miroslav Satan ?
it simply add up to too many players & too much $.

Sobotka was traded to the Blues for David Warsofsky

I do see the center point of view but just to highlight a few of the players on the list.
Begin will not be resigned and has confirmed he is moving on.
Sobotka was traded for a defensive prospect.
Marchand will and can play RW which he did the entire time he actually played in the bigs. (mostly on Bergy's RW)
Colborne is not ready for this season.
So basically it leaves Krejci, Bergeron, Seguin and Savard. (wow, what a center crop!) Seguin will not be on any line less than the third and as much as everyone says it wont happen, he could be a winger for this team until a move is made. And it would almost not make sense to have Bergeron on the wing. The Bruins have a terrible injury history the last couple of years and true depth is invaluable. The real problems on this team for money is Ryder and maybe Sturm. That close to 8 mil for those two...Also Thomas and Sturm will begin the season on LTIR giving some cap relief. Sturm especially could be off the books until Dec.

You have 4 legit top 6 centers, and 6 total centers. You can't just shift all your natural centerman to the wing or play them on the third and fourth lines, it creates more problems than it solves.
