Interesting move by the Bruins. Calling up goalie Svedberg with no injuries. Speculation that it is a showcase for a potential deal with St. Louis. Lots of extra d-men in Beantown. Something may happen soon. Rask is starting tonight but Svedberg is expected to start tomorrow against Ottawa.

Why would St.Louis be interested in a goalie?

I have no idea...just rumours floating around about a 3way with Edmonton, who needs a goalie. Who knows...

@SWhyno: Torn ACL/MCL. Huge blow to #Bruins to lose D-man. RT @AmalieBenjamin: Estimated recovery for Seidenberg is 6-8 months.

Don't love the term..but i'ts reasonable in this market. 7 years will take Dion to age 35..which isn't bad at all. Lots of D maintain their productivity and value up towards their late 30's. eg. Boyle, Pronger, Niedermayer, Chara, Lidstrom

Not saying Phaneuf is similar to any of these players but I'm way more comfortable going long term to their mid 30's with a D then I am with a forward.

Dion will be 36 when this contract ends, doesn't start until he is 29.

I wouldn't be worried about term. it isn't like they have any other bad 7 year contracts on the books ;)

That was horrifying..Really a shame. I had huge hopes for that fight. To end like that sucks. Also, Anderson may never fight again after that. That's at least a 10-12 month recovery time injury to get to normal, let alone get into a position to train.
