it's hilarious how Bruins fans on hfboards are blaming Orpik for this. piece of shit team and fans IMO in Boston.

Sad on many fronts, bad for hockey too, but could be the end of Thornton career, I can see a season suspension.

Even Jack Edwards was siding with Thornton. That was a UFC type knockout without Orpik being able to put his hands up. People have families. That's just being a goon. I hope he gets suspended for at least 20 games.

If Orpik drops the mitts with Thornton after the hit earlier in the game I doubt he explodes after the Eriksson hit like he did ... maybe. Not defending what Thornton did, but the way Orpik plays the game he can't just stand there like a cunt and act innocent.

Of course it was. Unfortunately in today's NHL big hits are followed by someone wanting to fight you. If you don't want to fight, don't throw hits like then ... sucks, but that's the way it is.

I disagree with everything here. That was assault. It wasn't a fist fight. Hockey or "being ready to fight once you throw a hit" has nothing to do with it.

What does this even mean lol. Don't be surprised if there are legal repercussions of this incident for Thornton beyond just a suspension. If you don't think legal action can e pursued, you're kidding yourself.

im not sure if you're overlooking the obvious factor here or are just dumb. there is a massive difference between taking a punch like that standing with room to recoil and taking a punch with your head pushed up against the ice.

allow me to punch you in the face standing in the open and then allow me to punch you in the face with your head against a cement wall.
