Game of Thrones is my favourite book series. Loving the show thus far.
Dude, George R.R. Martin's Game of thrones - song of ice and fire is easily my fav book series of all time, book 2 is the best single fantasy book i've read...and as a self-confessed bookie for most of my life I've read a shit load of books.

Unexpectedly the show is living up to expectations/the books... now if the 5th book didn't have a 5+ year delay....

It's not the 5th book I'm concerned about... it's the 6th and 7th I doubt he'll live to write.

And yeah, I am exceedingly happy with the series thus far. I did, however, have some hesitation about the cast: Tyrion - Peter Dinklage is not close to what he should be as far as appearance goes. That being said, he's such a strong actor that I don't really care. All the kids are much older than expected, but that's understandable considering the graphic and sexual nature of their characters. And third, Cersei. Don't get me wrong, the woman playing her is pretty hot, but I always thought of her as being stupid hot in a very evil way. Not the garden variety attractiveness they chose.

A subjective measure of the series' success thus far is my response to the characters. My favourites (Jon Snow, Tyrion, and Arya) are the same across both mediums.

Supernatural for my money is the best show on television. Six seasons running, and they never fail to deliver an exciting and fresh storyline.

It's funny you should say that, because I hadn't either, but got back into it recently and yes it is awesome, arguably better if you can believe that. And Castielle is still in it, in fact he plays the largest role in the the most recent seasons (5 and 6).

Cool to know that you are into fantasy books. I've got an entire book shelf stocked with them.

The Malazan series by Erikson (my personal favorites), Asoiaf (really good) by Martin, WoT (got me started in fantasy books) by Jordan (RIP), Ian C. Esslemont's Return of the crimson guard and Stonewielder, both Rothfuss books, some Glen Cook, Baakers Prince of Nothing series, Abercrombies Last argument of Kings series (really good) and both of his stand alone books The Heroes (which I am currently reading) and Best Served Cold. Tons more too. Pretty much have all the good shit :).

With regards to A Game of Thrones on HBO. I can't say I am too shocked that it has done the series justice so far. Everything that HBO is involved with now a days seems to be great.

Not sure if anyone mentioned it but Strike Back is a great new series on HBO. the "first" season just ended a few weeks ago.

I say "first" because it is the first season that has been produced out of hollywood. There was a 6 part series over in GB that was aired on Sky 1 HD that is technically the real first season of Strike Back.

It's good stuff though.

only on episode 2 but its quite good.

it's your pretty straight forward haunted house story with some mulholland drive wackyness thrown in.
