So there's a very real possibility that three teams (Carolina, Philadelphia, and Dallas) will miss their GP requirements when this week is finished. For transparency, this thread is self-serving, but with some new faces in this league, it would help to have an answer to the big question: What are the fines for missing GP requirements and what happens if the team in question doesn't hold his 1st, 2nd, or 3rd round picks?
Examples:
1) Team A misses GP by 10 games. He DOES NOT hold his 1st Round Pick.
2) Team B misses GP by 80 games. He DOES holds his 1st Round Pick.
The reason I am asking is that I potentially hold -- pending answer to the question -- a lottery pick in CGY's 1st Rounder (currently sits 6th overall).
Thanks for answering CC/Admins. Sorry if I hurt your feelings, Paul and Lee -- not intentional.
The Draft Pick (Fine) Question
Re: The Draft Pick (Fine) Question
The pick will be pushed back regardless of the owner, lots of reasoning for this, very very old discussion and precedent. If you'd like to chat about it, please message me, but the run down: I owned the 1st overall pick in 2010 which due to the team falling under GP (-46gp iirc) was pushed back to 2nd - losing 1st overall is a serious fine fwiw; later positions lose more spots to achieve similar impact.
The GM who fails to meet GP is fined themselves as well. I believe there are criteria for magnitude of fine somewhere. But I believe a warning for removal is a major point. Competitiveness each week is required for parity.

Re: The Draft Pick (Fine) Question
I would like to set a mild complaint that I inherited my team in January which gave me less than half the season to make up GP, along with having a mess of a team that was full of injured players/non nhler to begin with. The playoffs started in march, and my trade freeze ended around the middle of January iirc, so that gave me only a month and a half to meet required gp. My point is I don't think I should be punished for it, and if there is a punishment I think it should be lightened, as I am not responsible for the woes of my team, the previous owner was.
