Huge Crosby News -- C1/C2 fractures (compression)
So Elliot Friedman just reported that Sidney Crosby went in for testing and doctors believe they have found two fractures in the neck. Unknown if the fractures occurred before or after the most recent concussions.

It sounds like he's done for the rest of the regular season, but could make an appearance in the playoffs (which still seems unlikely).

Re: Huge Crosby News -- C1/C2 fractures (compression)
Crosby suffered a fracture to his C1/C2 vertebrae which let the head rotate on the spine. Thats why he went to go see Dr.Bray who is a neurological spine specialist. The last thing I saw from Dr. Bray was that the fractures have since healed. Of course theres a lot of controversy going around about the care of the trainers and the chiropractor Crosby went to go see. Because of this hes going to be seen by a few more neurologists and get a few more scans done by independent parties to confirm what Dr. Bray is saying that the fracture has indeed healed. What comes out of the further scans and opinions of the other neurologists will determine his prognosis.Mike wroteCOLONGive us a hand, Neel?

Hey...Shep wroteCOLONGOOOOOOOO DOCTORS
haha seriously though his trainers and the chiropractor etc fucked this up royal if they missed it originally. C1/C2 especially should be seen on standard head x-rays, CTs etc.
His chiropractor got ripped up quite a bit by Yale's head of neurology on prime time sports.
Re: Huge Crosby News -- C1/C2 fractures (compression)
Someone on twitter said it was a microfracture. I asked around and apparently it's not always detectable on an x-ray?inferno31 wroteCOLONHey...Shep wroteCOLONGOOOOOOOO DOCTORS

Theres been a ton of criticism on the pens medical staff especially letting crosby play after the original hit in the winter classic. Hard to say if its healed properly, but the other neurologists speak on it it'll be difficult to forecast his prognosis.Chris wroteCOLONSomeone on twitter said it was a microfracture. Lot of questions on why it wasn't seen earlier even if it was a incomplete fracture, from what I recall 6-15% of head injuries will have some spinal trauma as well. Ruling out any spinal damage is often the first step in any serious head injury, even if it was a small fracture given how much testing hes been through you'd hope they would of caught it sooner. Also I haven't seen it called a compression fracture anywhere? Micro fractures is a term for the small fractures made in a particular knee surgery to allow cartilage to develop in between the fractures. I think till the other docs make a decision we'll be in the dark, he is skating though.
Tom Brady was the one who suggested Sid go to the doctor who found it interestingly enough.
Re: Huge Crosby News -- C1/C2 fractures (compression)
This doctor's "chiropractic neurology" seems pretty pseudo scientific to my layman eyes. He claims to be able to cure coma patients? The blind? Through chiropractics? Amazing the Pens ans Sid trust this guy.
Re: Huge Crosby News -- C1/C2 fractures (compression)
Sid's fucked.. I'm sure glad I didn't trade anything substantial for him.. like the man in my banner
Re: Huge Crosby News -- C1/C2 fractures (compression)
So many ignorant comments here..
Re: Huge Crosby News -- C1/C2 fractures (compression)
Compression fractures are definitely detectable on an xray. They happen in 1 of 2 places in the cervical spine..C1/C2 or C6/C7. In Sidney's case it is C1/2..if reports are correct, a minor compression fracture can usually heal itself within 6-8 weeks in a neck brace. Now, were not sure when Sid got the compression fracture but reports say his fracture has healed already anyways which is a definite possibility. But yeah..lets rip the chiropractor..the same chiropractor Sid didn't go to until like 8 months after his injury..

Yeah, and the same idiot was ripping chiropractic as a profession because there he thinks there is no scientific research/evidence about it (there is.) yet he tells listeners to go to this site whatstheharm.net to educate themselves..and its just a list of people that had complications with certain treatments with links labelled "read more" but most are dead links or irrelevant. I can't believe a doctor from Yale actually referenced this website to listeners to "educate themselves".inferno31 wroteCOLONHey...Shep wroteCOLONGOOOOOOOO DOCTORS

The whole chiropractor vs. MD debate is pretty deep and I usually choose not to get into it..but it's mostly caused by MDs thinking they have the right to monopolize the whole health care system. It's fucking sickening. It's sad that at this day and age that doctors still hate to share the spotlight.
Re: Huge Crosby News -- C1/C2 fractures (compression)
Do you believe that chiropractors can, with their adjustments, fix non-local problems? Can the manual manipulation of the spine cure unrelated diseases? If so I'd love to see the mechanism demonstrated.bcool wroteCOLONYeah, and the same idiot was ripping chiropractic as a profession because there he thinks there is no scientific research/evidence about it (there is.) yet he tells listeners to go to this site whatstheharm.net to educate themselves..and its just a list of people that had complications with certain treatments with links labelled "read more" but most are dead links or irrelevant. Lol hangmans fracture... Something like this is standard on a regular c-spine procedure... Agrees with bcools*
