How're your prospects doing? Notes & Grades
How're your prospects doing? Notes & Grades
Just some chit-chat about the prospects on your team's system, and how they're doing compared to expectations, with some notes and an overall grade tossed in
Landon Ferraro - disliked in WHL, shocked at Red Wings training camp/pre-season...AHL # look more like WHL: C
Boone Jenner - liked going into draft, loved during WJC, throughly impressed at FO-skills and what that means in trying to make a team next year: A
Milan Kyntar - up down and all around, I liked his WHL game, shocked he saw an NHL game this year: B-
James Wright - WHL Favourite of mine, liked him as a rookie in 09, finding his game again - my similar views to Talon continue (traded for him just a week or so before Dale):B+
Sonder Olden - Think his frame and skating is an awesome combo, intriguing prospect that I'm glad the leafs picked, always like at leaf camp, meh: C
Alexander Ruutu - fell into this pick, has had no value at all, enjoyed his WJC: B prospect with an A grade
Brett Bulmer - awesome WHLer, wicked training camp and I liked his game, Yeo went from a team I liked to one I didn't like within weeks of sending Brett down, shocking absence from WJC and still IMO something we needed more of (size, physicality, canadian prime play): B+
Matt Frattin - dunno why he's a prospect, better then couple of players in the leafs lineup IMO: A-
Philip Lane - sure fails to produce like his skill-set would suggest: D
Miikka Salmaki - wicked wicked wicked WJC, loved by preds (by all accounts I've heard): A
Colby Cohen - flopping alert!!! F
Adam Janosik - Beastly off-season training, strong camp, good # in Q season, okay WJC subjectively: B-
Peter Mrazek - !!! A+
Semi-graduates, far and away exceeded early expectations/length of time to impact: Brayden McNabb & Jake Gardiner

Mikael Backlund - He's pretty much graduated out of his prospect status. His scoring sheet isn't exploding with pudding, but a bright future ahead of this skillful gem of a player. Should continue to improve, and make impact at the NHL level as a top 6 centre
Grade: 8.5B
T.J. Brennan - Exceptional stats in AHL, current call-up for BUF. Not 100% sure he'll stick around and make any sort of impact however. Needs more development
Grade: 7.0D
Zac Dalpe - Still being experimented by CAR coaching staff with numerous call-ups this season already. Should definitely be ready for next year if not 2nd half of this season
Grade: 7.5B
Zach Boychuk - Still haven't been recognized this season since his NHL stint last year. Should have a decent chance at cracking the roster next year
Grade: 7.5C
Zack Phillips - Many say he's not ready til 2013-2014 season, I also think the same, unless he does some magical things this year in juniors and surprise people in training camp next season.
Grade: 7.0C
Evan Oberg - So many call-ups and send-down's for this kid... who's sick of the TBL organization? I doubt that he'll make impact this year though...
Grade: 6.5D
Nikita Filatov - We know where he is this season... but next? nobody knows! LOL
Grade: 6.0C

Re: How're your prospects doing? Notes & Grades
Mika Zibanejad - Strong year, showing all the elements of his game that positively compares him to Kesler -- scored Gold-Medal winning goal in the WJCs: A
Louis Leblanc - Up and down year. Struggling to adapt -- acquitted himself well in his call-ups: B-
Greg Nemisz - See above: B-
Andreas Engqvist - Having a terrific year in Hamilton with a PPG. Huge centre, lots of offensive potential, but needs playing time in the NHL: A-
Casey Cizikas - Has two-way 3C stud written all over him. I'm excited about this guy the most out of all my centres: A+
Philip McRae - Has been an offensive powerhouse one game, an ECHL scrub the next. Really needs to get it together if he wants to play in the NHL: C-
Anders Lee - PPG in the NCAA. Haven't really tracked his progress, but rumblings that he'll jump to the pros next year: B+
JT Miller - Out of all my prospects, Miller is the one with the most outstanding work ethic and BBKL potential. Should challenge for a spot with the Rangers next year: A+
Jerry D'Amigo - Having a great year with the Marlies and has picked up his offensive production of late: B
Carter Ashton - Started off hot, then slowed down. Has great PWF potential. Believe he's going to the AHL ASG: B+
Kyle Palmieri - Perhaps the most dominant goal-scorer currently in the AHL right now. First call-up for the Ducks: A
Jeremy Morin - Has played well in the minors. Given a couple of looks, but may need a change of organization to have a change. Huge PWF potential: B
Phillip Danault - Dominant two-way centre in the QMJHL. Great 3C potential. A couple of years away: B+
Nikita Kucherov - Dominant in the Super Series, very good in the WJCs. Has elite offensive potential: A+
Thomas Hickey - Rounding his defensive game, but desperately needs to play for a new organization: C
Stuart Percy - Dominant at times in the OHL, has been on the shelf with a concussion since December: A+
Joe Morrow - Brilliant two-way defenseman in the Dub. WILL be with the Penguins next year. A shocking omission from the WJCs where Canada could have used him: A+
Patrik Nemeth - Steady as she goes, he's the next Grossman with more puck skills: B-
Mark Pysyk - In his final year in the Dub. Playing well, progressing nicely. Good two-way potential: B+
Martin Marincin - Regressing badly until his trade to the Regina Pats. Has huge upside, but needs more seasoning: C
Brendan Smith - Thoroughly dominant in the AHL. Blocked by veterans in Detroit. Will be called up at some point, but will be in the NHL to stay next year: A++
Cody Goloubef - Badly struggling in the AHL: D
Tom Nilsson - Hard to get a lot of information on him, so I'm going with the middle ground: C
Justin Holl - Not really progressing statistically, but Chicago management are raving about his upside: C-
Anders Nilsson - 6'5, and progressing well in the minors. Huge upside, but destined to be Poulin's back-up.
Kevin Poulin - Has been a monster in January with 3 straight shutouts and showing signs of coming out of that funk. Many said he should have made the Islanders out of camp: A-
Mikko Koskinen - Went back to Europe for more playing time. Still projects well in the NHL. A few years away, but needs stability: C-
Darcy Kuemper - Monstrous project with elite athleticism and a huge frame. Potential top-five goaltender in the NHL: A++
Jeremy Smith

all my prospects are fuckin allstars
Re: How're your prospects doing? Notes & Grades
Nothing on Jeremy Smith?
Re: How're your prospects doing? Notes & Grades
He makes Lindback expendable and has good upside as a potential NHL starter down the road. Back-up for now.
Re: How're your prospects doing? Notes & Grades
1. Brandon Saad CHI - Nearly made the hawks out of camp, and has been dominant at the junior level with 15g 22a 37p on a not so great Saginaw Spirit. A+
2. Cameron Atkinson CBJ - with 23 goals in 38gp as a rookie in the ahl, Cam Atkinson has shown a nose for the net, and strong offensive instincts. Size is still an issue but with great speed and strong offensive instincts he is a great candidate to crack the struggling Blue Jackets this upcoming fall. A
3. Reilly Smith DAL - Coming off an incredible season with Miami Ohio where he scored 54 points in 38 games, Smith is continueing to dominate the ncaa ranks. Currently on pace to finish with a career high of 33 goals the Junior forward is a rising star among the Dallas Stars organization A.
4. Evgeny Grachev STL - 2011/12 has been an up and down year for Evgeny Grachev, where he has spent most of his season playing in a limited role with the St Louis Blues under new coach Ken Hitchcock. Recently demoted in an attempt to spark his offence and allow him to gain some heavy minutes, its only a matter of time before he is returned to the NHL. B
5. Austin Madaisky CBJ - In his final year of junior elidgibility Austin Madaisky is finally showing the offence abilities in which is was touted with in his draft year. Scoring 36 points in 47 games the 6'2 defencemen will look to further build on this success as he moves to the professional ranks in the 2012/13 season. B
6. Brenden Dillon DAL - During his first taste of professional hockey, the tough young rearguard has shown promise but still needs some more seasoning before attempting to crack Dallas' blueline. B-
7. Darren Dietz MTL - With the departure of Stefan Elliott, Darren Dietz is enjoying an increased role with the Saskatoon Blades of the whl. Already tieing his career high in points in 48gp. B
8. Zach Hyman FLA - After dominating the OJHL, Zach Hyman is facing his first taste of adversity in his freshman season at Michigan U. The offensive ability his still there but is likely a few seasons away from professional duty C+
9. Michael Pereira N/A - This undrafted player is starting to turn some heads in Nhl circles, scoring at a ppg pace in his sophmore season. Stay Tuned. B
10. Derek Grant OTT - The 6'3 winger has shown offensive upside but will need at least another season in Binghamton before he is given any time at the Nhl level. C

Re: How're your prospects doing? Notes & Grades
Jason Zucker (MIN) - Well over a ppg in his 2nd year in the ncaa and was over a ppg in his rookie year as well. Selected to Team USA at the WJC for the 2nd straight year. A-
Tomas Kubalik (CBJ) - Good rookie season and a decent sophomore year this year. Almost made the team out of camp, but still has gotten some time with the Jackets this year so far. B+
Erik Haula (MIN) - PPG in sophomore year at the U. of Minnesota for this play making winger. B-
Andrew Yogan (NYR) - Big and skilled center who was hurt for most of last year and is currently scoring at a PPG for the Peterborough Petes. Scored 3 points in 2 games in the AHL on an amateur tryout. B-
Brad Malone (COL) - This grinder nearly scored at a PPG in his final year at North Dakota last year. Decent AHL statistics thus far and played well during his stint on the Avs earlier in the season. B-
Jason Gregoire (WPG) - Scored over a PPG in his junior year at at North Dakota last year. He was one of the final cuts in preseason for the Jets. AHL stats aren't looking good however. C+
Kevin Hayes (CHI) - Slow and steady improvement for this skilled 6'3 power forward from Boston College. B-
Myles Bell (N/A) - Highly skilled offensive defenceman who scored 45 points in 66 games last season in his draft year and 24 in 32 so far this year in the WHL. This guy was a top 60 talent but was undrafted due to pending legal trouble. B+
Ben Holmstrom (PHI) - Good AHL numbers for this grinder who has seen 2 call-ups already this season. B-
Dylan DeMelo (SJ) - 33 pts in 46 games for the Majors defenceman who may have gone late in the draft simply because of less playing time behind a couple veteran OHL d-men and Stuart Percy. B
Shawn Lalonde (CHI) - Skilled puck-moving defenceman who loves to hit. Great season in the AHL last year. He has improved a ton defensively this year but has struggled with offence. B-
Robin Lehner (OTT) - Future starting goaltender for the Sens. Good AHL stats considering his team is awful and dead last. A
