mr. bruin wroteCOLONI've got like 6 guys in the reserves that played tonight. If you need some depth/roster players/games played Tunic, drop me a PM.
so he can use his assets to pick up the guys that don't even crack your lineup?

Why would he do that unless the players on your reserves have very high upside? It's not like he is going to challenge for a playoff spot or anything like that. He just needs to worry about meeting the GP minimum. (whether he is on track to do so right now I have no idea.)

No need for him to waste his quality assets. Unless of course you would except low quality assets (aka scrubs and late round picks) for your bench players. I doubt you would though.

He would do that because he is not even dressing a complete lineup. Games played is an important issue and we have minimums in place, do we not? It should not matter what stat line a player is producing if they are a full time roster player. Hence the reason i said depth/roster players/games played. He has the following in active roster: Mitchell, Spacek, Gomez, Armstrong and Campoli. All are injured. I do not understand where this mentality on player value has come from. Why are 3rd and 4th line players not worthy of any value? Why are they scrubs? The odds that a 2nd round pick is used to draft a player that ever even cracks an NHL roster is pretty slim. Players that have already made that jump and beat the odds, despite what line they play on, have value to a team who needs to meet min games played and to even help a team tank legitimately. I use those players as depth players for injuries. To someone else they could be roster players. Maybe i just have a different opinion on picks/prospects and player values. I have learned from my mistakes. Giving up players that have already proven they can crack an NHL roster for 4th or 5th round picks is pure idiocy. One that burns me is Adam McQuaid for late 3rd and 5th. Steve got me good on that one.

I'm just sayin that the guy would be better served saving his assets for the offseason where people actually move good players for picks and prospects. OR he could do what you are suggesting and use his good assets to pick up borderline 4th line players just so he can get some GP. The problem with that, is that when he wants to go and get some upgrades, all his good assets that people would have wanted, were used to pick up scrubs that no one is going to want on their team.

If he is on pace to meet the min GP then I see no reason for him to make any moves (I mentioned earlier that I have no idea if he is on pace to meet the GP). He'd be much better off, IMO, using those assets when the oppurtunity presents itself, to pick up quality players.

At one point my team had about 3 or 4 guys who were injured and still in my lineup. I guess I should have used guys like David Savard, Carl Klingberg, Eric Gustafsson or Mark Scheifele to pick up some depth players. I wasn't icing a complete lineup after all.

I never said you should have done such a thing. I simply made a post saying i had depth players available. DEPTH PLAYERS. Take it however you like. If he is confident that he will not ever need games played or roster players then he obviously would not go looking for them. I simply made it aware that i have such players available, if he or anyone else ever needs them. You have your own theories on prospects and player values, I have mine. Who says one is right and one is wrong? A player or prospect you may say is quality, the next guy might think is shit. I am simply stating that 3rd line/4th line guys that get 10-13 mins a night or kill penalties, BS, etc hold value. If you want to build an offensive team of Kovalchuks, then I guess that is where your opinion on what determines quality comes from. I actually prefer to go the more balanced route and try and cover all of the stat categories.

And all I was saying was that there is no need for him to waste his good assets on DEPTH PLAYERS, especially if he doesn't need any GP right now. If he ends up needing some GP then he can grab these depth players that you speak of. Until he knows that he needs to pick up GP, I personally don't think there is any reason for him to give up his good assets.

Generally speaking, I know the type of assets that people request in return for their DEPTH PLAYERS. And for the most part, the asking prices are stupid in the regular season.

As for your comment about me building a team of Kovalchuks. Have you even looked at my team? I have quite the balanced approach right now. I have two big name offensive players in Vanek and Kovalchuk. The rest are pretty well balanced players who get me lots of hits, blocked shots, SOGs and some pretty good SHTOI.

Lol, I know you have a solid team. I have some kovalchuks of my own so i'm not dissin. Just for entertainment factor what do you feel the following would be worth during regular season? I am willing to put up my shit and have it torn down. I mean what would you pay and what would you expect in return if they were yours?

Kyle Wilson
Joey Crabb
Tim Wallace
Michael Haley
Brett Carson

I know it is nothing fancy but I am curious..

I'll get back to this and answer it tonight sometime. I wont forget boutcha.

It's just that I've been slackin the last hour and a half with my exam studying because of the BBKL forums and I REALLY need to buckle down for a few hours here lol.

EDIT: Off the top of my head, Kyle Wilson I would give up a mid round pick at most. The guy can't crack an NHL roster. Tim Wallace, same thing, mid round pick. Carson same, mid round pick or so.

Joey Crabb would be the most valuable guy on that list. Probably worth a decent prospect and a mid round pick?

Michael Haely is probably the second most valuable player on that list. Ok prospect + a mid/late round pick?

The guy who I would want most on your bench is Rinaaaaaaaaaaaldo.
