a nice slap in the face to lee...
i like it.
i like it.
Re: Trade: DAL/NJD
Because he trade for a pick I moved long ago for a starting goalie?
Re: Trade: DAL/NJD
1st PHI won't be 1st overall again, but from observing his team production over the weeks, it's definitely going to be a top 10 pick imo, and tunic traded it for a 25th-ish pick + two 2nd's so....
Re: Trade: DAL/NJD
confirmed. sorry for the slow respone, made the deal while i was out.
Re: Trade: DAL/NJD
yah Scott would have had to pay way more to move up that far, if this trade was made during our entry draft.H MART wroteCOLON1st PHI won't be 1st overall again, but from observing his team production over the weeks, it's definitely going to be a top 10 pick imo, and tunic traded it for a 25th-ish pick + two 2nd's so....
Have to give the nod to Scott on this one. Should have waited to move that pick IMO.
Re: Trade: DAL/NJD
Pick is 11th overall, and Lee only wants to win so he'll be looking to improve.
If Scott gets upset in round 1, this could be a 16th for 12th pick type of thing..

Re: Trade: DAL/NJD
Those 2 2nds should be top 40 or better don't forget. So basically this deal is 3 good prospects (we know top talent falls in the bbkl ie Jt Miller, Joe Morrow, Dylan McIlrath, etc.) for potentially 1 very good one.
Re: Trade: DAL/NJD
Meh. Say whatever you guys would like to say.
I don't see how this can't be a +1 for the Devils. I doubt you would have traded that PHI pick for what you got it for Scott. You would be asking for more, most definitely.
Shep, your comment about Lee always wanting to improve is correct. However, there is only so much improving you can do mid season when everyone, for the most part, is trying to compete. Add in the fact that Lee is in the super stacked Eastern Conference and I wouldn't be surprised if his pick stays at 11ish. I don't see Scott getting bounced early either. He will make sure he can make a run at the back-to-back-to-back championships.

Willing to wager 1st round picks on that. I say top 8Shep wroteCOLONPick is 11th overall
Re: Trade: DAL/NJD
Right, but I'm just saying.. this means nothing until the picks are set.
With all of the high-end talent getting injured, some will fall too..
Our draft is a lot different then the NHL because we do our own scouting for about the first 50-60 picks, so we actually draft players we really want and many uninformed GMs can't use the NHL results to do their drafting.

It's not a brutal trade or anything. I just think it might have been a smarter move to perhaps wait until draft time to flip a potential top 12 pick. GM's in this league pay TONS to move up in the draft.
