Edmonton goaltending

Post by Shoalzie »

I'm quite surprised not a single team so far has asked me about Khabibulin/Dubnyk after the month those two just had. I'm guessing there aren't a lot of believers. The Oilers are 8-2-2 and have allowed just 18 goals in 12 games with 2 shutouts. Their combined cap hit is $4.55 million with Khabibulin with another year left on his deal and Dubnyk is an RFA after this year.

I'll also dangle Sami Salo (cap hit of only $2 million)...8 pts. (t-11th amongst all D), +6 (t-12th), 32 SOG (t-11th), 5 ST pts. (t-8th) and he's got close 30 minutes SHTOI. Komisarek and Gonchar are playing well also but both have hefty cap hits.

I can't ask for a goaltending upgrade because I've got arguably the best goaltending tandem (from a single team)...any goaltending I'd receive is a downgrade at this point. I'm mega weak at forward...I must get an upgrade at a forward position or two. I want a guy(s) with offensive game. I'd love to add a 1st round pick but at this point, an upgrade at the forward position is my #1 concern. I've got Hemsky possibly coming back this weekend but won't be in my lineup until next week at the earliest. I'd like to roll out an improved forward lineup for next week.

My requirements for goaltending, it must be at least a duo (or trio) from one team (contract security would be preferred)...preferrably with the 3rd guy being waiver exempt. I can't really take on an entire depth chart without giving up more guys on my end and I don't have anything beyond the top 2 for the Oilers. I'd like a similar cap hit (or more)...I'm not that close to the floor but I can't give up millions unless it's in the upgraded forward I'm receiving. The worse the goaltending you offer, the better the forward I better be getting in return. For outright bad goaltending...any team destined to miss the playoffs or is giving up around 3 goals a game, a 1st round pick must be included.

I'm specific in what I'm asking for so don't throw me open-ended offers...come to me with actual offers. I don't have to do this but I'm throwing it out there since no one has asked about the Oilers' goaltending. Goaltending is my strength but it only gets me so many wins in a week when I have depleted numbers in the other categories.

If I weren't so hellbent in proving that the Islander's goaltenders were an up-and-coming unit (plus the fact that Nabokov won't get the fuck out), I'd be interested in exploring trade scenarios with you. By the way, I'm still wondering if a certain player we've previously discussed is on your radar.

Of course he does. His team was a mess, now he's building back up.

Anyway...

Some inquiries coming in on my defensemen. Just a note, if you're only interested in a defenseman, I must have a regular NHL defenseman in return as part of a deal. I have just 6 active NHLers on my entire roster.

*BUMP*

Khabibulin did it again...1 goal allowed in another win. Awful game last night...caused his GAA to RISE to 0.98. And it's not like he's had a clunker...no game has he allowed more than 2 goals.

Just sayin...still no nibbles from anyone and I know somebody has to be concerned about their goaltending situation.

I think it's the fact that he's not had a good season in awhile, and that he's 36 or 37. Hard to justify pulling the trigger on the EDM duo when the defense isn't perfect either.
